School busses dropping off kids far from home?

I guess I really don't think it is that inconvient for you. You could meet the bus, just don't want to because of your little one's schedule? I guess that is why younger children are so flexible often; their schedules are adjusted more to meet the needs of the family.
If there are so many kids in your community anyway, perhaps you could make some arrangements with the other moms about meeting the bus, or pay an older child to walk your child home.
I would explore other options before I expected the BOE to adjust bus routes and incur cost for my personal convenience.

I agree with you that over a mile is too far for really young kids to have to walk to and from the bus. In our community if you live more than a mile from school you will ride the bus,(at least for grade school). I would talk to the head of busing and find out what there policy is and the reason why the bus does not come into your community. Is it because it is an association? If so I would at least check with your association and find out if it is possible to allow the bus onto their property. It cannot hurt to at least ask around.

If it is not possible for the bus to make stops in your community I would try and see if you could car pool with some other moms. I bet alot of other moms think it is a bad idea to let their kids make this walk too, but just kinda let it go as the status quo.

Be thankful you have school buses. Not all towns do and as far as your schedule with sleeping kids that comes with the territory with having more than one child. I cant imagine calling the bus company for that reason. For the record My kids have always walked to and from school. They know to walk with others. My school does not provide busing since its 2 miles or less to the schools.
