Started a new thread on this one because we just discovered it on my birthday trip. I also tried the rice cream (yummy) and the Chocolate Cake. The chocolate cake looks like chocolate mousse and it is soo good.
But back to my original point. Try the School Bread. I am trying to find a Norwegian Bakery here locally now!!

I was curious too since I'm Norwegian and have been to Norway at Epcot. I couldn't recall School Bread but did find the recipe on the internet:

School Bread

From the Restaurant Akershus and Kringla Bakery of Kafe Norway Pavilion at Epcot, DisneyWorld, FL

1/2 qt Water
3 oz Yeast (dry)
3.5 oz Sugar
2.5 oz Butter (melted)
1 tsp Cardamom
2 lbs Flour
1 Egg
Heat water and butter to 95 degrees F. Mix flour, sugar, cardamom, yeast and egg together for about five minutes until dough is stiff. Form it like a ball and place in a bowl, cover with plastic wrap and let rise for 45 minutes, or until dough has doubled in size. Roll the dough out like a sausage and cut it into five-ounce pieces. Roll each piece into a ball and put them on a non-stick sheet pan and let them rise for 30 minutes. Bake at 375 degrees for 15 minutes. Let cool.

Mix powdered sugar and water (use small amounts until proper consistency is achieved) to make icing and place in shallow pan. Form hole in bread using your finger. Dip bread in icing (hole side down) and sprinkle with shredded coconut. Using a pastry tube, squeeze vanilla custard into the hole and swirl at top for decoration.

I discovered it by accident on our trip in Sept '03. We were leaving Epcot for the night, and I stopped in to pick up some pastries for the next morning. As I was showing hubby and kids what I had gotten, I ended up sampling the school bread. (Gosh, I wonder how that happened? :teeth: ) Immediately went and bought another because it was soooo gooood.

It's now my "must have" snack at Epcot. Can't wait for December to get here! We're headed to Epcot our first day and Norway will be my first stop of the day and probably my last also!

DH raves about the School Bread for weeks...months after our trips. He discovered it back in 1996 and makes it a must on every trip!

We shared one Friday afternoon! DH discovered these on our first visit together and they have been a MUST ever since. However, he has to watch his cholesterol and blood sugar now, so we shared one instead of him devouring three in one week.

I discovered the school bread last trip and I've been dreaming about it since. I will definitely be getting another one this trip.

can someone explain what it is like?
I read the recipe but I would like to hear more! sounds really good!

This sounds good! I also like to pick up something at night to have in the room for breakfast the next morning. This sounds perfect. Thanks for sharing!
