School Bread at Epcot's Norway Pavilion

Whoa! I got as far down as the bottom of the first page and that was enough for me.
I will stick with my trusted Cronut, and I may try the Troll Horn.
That thread tells it all!
Thanks, WEDWDW.
You're welcome.

In Roller Coaster terms, the ORIGINAL School Bread was Rock 'n Roller Coaster and the new one is Barnstormer!lol:)

I had it for the first time in 2008 and have gotten it every trip since.

At home, I enjoy baking. I don’t do it nearly as much as I’d like to. I mention it because I appreciate the effort that goes into creating pastry items. A deft hand is needed to produce quality results in a bakery, whether cakes, yeast breads, pie crusts, or cookies.

School bread is a nice yeast bread though its overall presentation is sweet. The dough is nicely spiced with cardamom. Its filling is a vanilla custard, and the glaze on top is caramel and coconut. The components play well off each other in both flavors and textures.

It is excellent if you get a fresh school bread, preserve its freshness overnight, and consume it with a fresh cup of Starbucks coffee the next morning. It’s Disney vacation magic for me.

The only way you could match that experience is with a frangipane from France instead of the School bread.

My last two trips, we stayed at the Swan where Starbucks pods and bottled water are included. School bread or frangipane and coffee is a breakfast of champions. :)

I think the school bread is a one-and-done for me- and I certainly didn't eat a whole one. I found the dry, flavorless bread and the gluey consistency of what I guess is supposed to be) pastry cream to be just wrong, and into the trash it went. I MUCH prefer the sweet pretzel with almond glaze and slivered almonds!

As I've posted before, take a stale cream donut and a day-old bagel, crossbreed them and you get school bread. For us, the bread part was inedible and the cream not that great either. Maybe ours had just been sitting out for several days but otherwise I will never get what the hype is about. Stick with the cronut, at least those are fresh.

I totally agree. I wondered if mine was left over from the previous day or two. Very over rated in my opinion.

I have not had a chance to try the School bread but am looking forward to it this trip. My Great Grandfather was Finnish and we grew up with Nissuea. Which is a braided cardamom bread. Those who have tried this is it a similar flavor and texture? If so I am in :-)
