Hello All:

Just wondering how many of you are School Bread fans.

I am thinking of treating myself to it this year (I watch my sugar intake, but a treat now and again doesn't hurt). But I have heard some say it's overrated. I know that at the end of the day I have to judge for myself. Just wondering how many people LOVE the school bread? I may just stick with my trusted Cronut!

Please share! (*_*)

It's my must have Disney snack when I'm there. It's not overly sweet which I like. I usually bring a half dozen home after every trip.

I FINALLY tried it this year and was disappointed. We couldn't even finish it sharing it the custard/icing was so sweet. We tried to just pull the bread away from it but finally just tossed it.

Meh. I also tried it recently to see what all the fuss was about. Loved the custard, but could've done without the spice flavor, I'm assuming that was the cardamom since I like the rest of the ingredients. That was a one and done for me.

Oh. I'm not a "spice" flavor person either. I love custard though.
Thanks for your input.

Funny you mentioned it. In my quest - I found this recent 2017 video (their School Bread portion starts around the 4:00 mark). They note that it tastes different.. more vanilla-y. It also looks different. I see all white/cream color on top - but before I noticed more spice colors on top. hmmm.

I love it. My family is meh on it. I usually get one per trip and share.

It is one of my must haves at Epcot along with a caramel treat from Germany and a Grey Goose slushy:P. I think the middle is sweet, but mixed with the outside is not overwhelmingly sweet. It is not overly spiced for my taste.

I hope you love it!:)

Funny this thread popped up today because my friend was just saying that she wants to try it and I've always wanted to try it but just haven't.
I've heard the portion is plenty big to share among 2 people. Is that the case or should we each get our own?

My DH and I both disliked School Bread. It tasted stale to us. I don't think it's worth it to make it your one big treat. I've had the cronut, too, and I would pick that a million times over the School Bread. However, everyone's tastes are different and you might need to try it at least once to satisfy your curiosity. I was the same way.

Yes, even when I look at the portion size on the video's they look huge. I think I may only enjoy half and wrap up the rest to take back to my resort. I always keep pack food storage bags on my trips.

As I've posted before, take a stale cream donut and a day-old bagel, crossbreed them and you get school bread. For us, the bread part was inedible and the cream not that great either. Maybe ours had just been sitting out for several days but otherwise I will never get what the hype is about. Stick with the cronut, at least those are fresh.

I tried school bread a couple of years ago after hearing people rave about it for years. The bread was dry, there wasn’t much custard, and the taste was just OK. I liked the cronut much better.

I had the same kind of experience with the warm cinnamon roll from Gaston’s at MK. It was huge, but it was dry, not warm, and the taste was just OK.

I've heard this before - that the texture was too plain-bready --- not even SOFT-bready.
But I think I need to see for myself. If I'm not crazy about my first bite, I will refuse to finish it off and full up my belly with a snack that I'm only lukewarm about. I'll head off to get my cronut!
