Up until Grade 6, I bake or pick up donut holes (timbits) at Tim Horton's. Depending on how busy I am. It is usually cupcakes, or more recently cookies, as I think it is an easier thing to eat, and I don't have to drive them to school, lol, it fits easily with them.:lmao:

After that, NOTHING

we aren't allowed to send in any food at all, so I usually will donate a book that my child gets to pick out for the classroom. they are excited to do it, and I suppose it is the next best thing. I have done the pencil thing in the past, too, but the book seems to be the thing they like best.

Up until middle school, I usually sent cookies for everyone- no cupcakes permitted. Middle school I would sometimes take them out for a quick lunch or bring a pizza for them to share with their friends. Parents and kids sit at a different lunch table in a different area if you come up for lunch. Now I send money for them to go out to lunch with their friends.

Elem/middle - cupcakes to school

High School - we would put several dozen cupcakes on the trunk of DS's car where they all hung out on break.
His Jr. year he left a note on his trunk that asked for milk to go with the cupcakes we were dropping off :rotfl2:

Cupcakes/cookies through 5th grade. After that, nothing. :)

Though DD has 41 kids in her classroom this year (combined class), so I'm thinking I'm not making any treats this year.

We're not allowed to send anything in: our schools have a new "Wellness Policy" that really stinks.

My third grader's teacher bucked the system and had a Halloween Party (the superintendent said no parties) -- they had WATER to drink, and no snacks. Festive, huh?

I voted "other"...
My kids' classes are large (approx. 30) so to celebrate everyone's birthday with a treat gets to be a bit much including a lot of time taken away from the schedule. Each child is acknowledged on their birthday, but once a month the cafeteria either makes cupcakes or frozen yogurt from their own machine for the whole class to celebrate the kids who had birthdays that month. They all sing Happy Birthday to each other and have time together to enjoy their treat. It's a great situation all around and the kids love it!

We sent in cookies or candy, NO cupcakes allowed (WAY, WAY, WAY too messy). The kids handed them out at the end of the day as the other kid left to go home. Now we don't do anything as they are too old for that.:lmao:

our school does not permit treats to be sent in (which I support, with almost 30 kids in my DS' class, it would just be way too much) The school announces the bday with the morning announcements, and then presents them with a special banner that hangs in their classroom. They also get a special bday pencil. So I voted "do nothing" because the school does it all.

I voted "nothing" as the parents are not allowed to send in any snack/food treats of any kind (we do not promote buying a book or anything similar to that).

At my school of over 600 students, we:
1) have the child's name announced on the morning announcements
2) give him a b-day pencil & card

:teacher:

my dd10 is the only one (so far) who has a bday that falls within the school yr.. since she is in a small life skill class they had a full on birthday party for her and another student who had a bday the same week. :) I sent in cake, cookies, chips, cheese, crackers, goodie bags or should I say goodie cups.. we picked up a few of the ones at walmart in the party section and filled those with small playdoh (yes I know how much one person hates it on this board but I love it) wacky straws, small bubbles, and a few other things that I can't rememeber right now.. :) She had a fun time.. her teachers bought her a webkinz she was a very happy girl that day.. for the other 2 who are in school with summer bdays I send in cupcakes the last day of school. With the teachers blessing of course.

my oldest, I send cupcakes in w/him (he's in 3rd grade now).
my youngest in Prek has a no food policy, meaning no food for parties, etc. they have snack time, but he's in a nut free room. I'm going to send in stickers/pencils something appropriate for 3-5 year olds.

In elem, I sent a treat with my son. Cupcakes at first, but then Disney ruined that easy-out for me and he started asking for rice crispy sushi like at California Grill (and yes, I made it for him :rotfl:). Now that he's in middle, I don't plan on doing anything.

My girls are both summer babies, so it doesn't come up for them.

Not a thing....since we aren't allowed to send in any treats for the class.

This is the first year we are not allowed to send in food. So, I will send pencils or stickers, or something similar, for my DD this year. My middle son is in jr high this year, so I don't know if I will do anything for him. My oldest DS has a summer birthday, but I do send blueberry muffins with him to the zoo where he volunteers.
