Do you feel it's okay for parents to pull their children out of school for a Disney vacation?

What's your side of this debate?

DISCUSS. :]

Only if its for a day or two. Otherwise i think they should wait until their children are on vacation.

i think it is abit bad to do this but the only time my dad can get out of work is during school time so all our holidays to WDW have been during school time. Though i still manage to keep up with my grades :) They do run into the holidays so i think the most we've had off school is about a week then we're there for a week during school holidays.

It depends. Like when I was little
I missed school a lot because it
was just elementry school. I don't
think its a very good idea for a kid
to miss a like week of high school
though. A few days is fine.

As long as the student is good and is willing to work extra hard to catch up when they return, I don't see the problem.

I get pulled out of school to go to Disney all the time. I get work from all of my teachers before I leave and I do it on the plane/car ride, and in the resort. And when I return to school, I make up all of my tests and other missed work ASAP. My grades aren't affected by my vacation and I haven't dropped a letter grade because of the vacations as well.

I miss school all the time for Disney. I think its fine, but I tell my teachers I'm going, and ask for the make-up work.

That's what Shelly's doing for our trip to WDW next year, it's fine I guess..

Exactly my thought.

I think it's fine. I mean, as long as the child makes up the work, and their grades don't drop to drastically. I don't understand what's the big deal. It's not like the world is going to end if a child leaves school for a vacation.

Gawd knows are lifes are so freakin' stressed now-a-days.

My parents plan there vacations usually in advance so my school and teachers know when I will be out for a week or so. They give me the work and my parents insist I complete some everyday for at least an hour in the morning before we head into the parks. So this way I keep up with the work and only have to make up test when I return.

Its hard because we are only
allowed to miss a certain
number of days per semester
or else we loose credit.

The only time I've been to Disney during school was the band trip to disney... which was technically kind of a school feild trip...

But, my parents would never let me miss school for Disney

I don't think you should, and if you do no more than 1 or 2 days. I've never missed that much school my entire life. Usually 1 or 2 days a year. (Usually 1 is for Disney, but this year one was for getting my license).

So, if necessary, 1 or 2 days but more than that to me is too much.

Well see in my school district (old really), you're not allowed to take time and do vacations with family. They say it isn't a good idea. You're only allowed to miss for illness and for appts. Disney of course doesn't fall into those catagories.

Frankly, I think its fine for any younger aged elementary school student (K-3) to miss. They usually wouldn't miss a whole lot. Now, it would of been incredibly hard for me to catch up (because they go so fast) and I would of been lost for most of the time.

I think it's fine.I alway's make sure to tell my teachers and get the make-up work either before or after my vacation.

But both time's I went I left on an early release day and the next day was no school anyway.

So we usually try to go when schools out so we don't try to miss anything.

My Teachers HATE it when you go on vacation in the middle of the school year,So I donno......

well it depends my mom looks at the school calender she will plan it on a week with a holiday but we haen't been to disney for a while and last time we went i was spring break

i think if you are never apsent u should be abile to get out of school like i was neva eva apsent and i was apsent for a week but i think its fair its the only time my dad could get off
