We will be going the week of March 5 - 12 of next year, and I'm trying to plan my schedule.

Here's my very tentative schedule:
Sunday - Morning - MK for EMH, afternoon break, then MGM or Epcot
Monday - Morning - AK for EMH, afternoon break then MGM or Epcot
Tuesday - if we didn't finish MGM, then MGM - EMH, break, MK the rest of the day.
Wednesday - if we didn't finish Epcot, then Epcot - EMK, break, MK the rest of the day.

Thursday and Friday - Universal Studios and IOA

Our must rides at MGM are ToT, RnR, GMR, Muppets, Fantasmic (Dinner Package), Star Tours, PlayHouse Disney

Our must rides at Epcot are Mission:Space, Test Track, JIYI, HISTA

Our must rides at AK are FTLK, KRR, Dinosaur, ITTBAB

We'd like to do as much at MK as humanly possible. Our son is 4 years old, but 48" tall, so he can ride anything. He will tire, so we have to schedule afternoon breaks.

From experience, how many rides can you finish during the Early Magic Hour in each of the parks? I'm sure the number varies, but an approximation would be very helpful.

Also,I was thinking about park hopping from MGM or Epcot to MK. Would it be better to start with the MK in the morning, and park hop to MGM or Epcot in the afternoons on Tues and Wed.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated!

Sarah

Welcome to the DIS. I'm going to bump this back to page one for you so that some of our veterans can offer advice.

You may want to hold off on planning your itinerary until after Jan 2, 2005. Evening EMH is coming back on or around that date, which will add a bit more flexiblity to your planning options. The days and attractions for each park will differ between morning and evening, and the exact offerings have not been finalized yet, but if you're not going to be down till March, you should be able to get plenty of info before your trip.
Happy Planning!

How can you not plan? I wish I could stop, but it's just not possible!! I guess I'll just work on a preliminary plan and make my ressies, and then adapt later if necessary.

Thanks, Safari Steve, I would have forgotten that evening EMH attractions may be different than morning. Do you think they'll be the same ones for evening EMH as were for the after-hours ticketed event (my gosh, I'm so excited here, I forgot the name)? I'm specifically planning for Wednesday, 1/5. Is it possible they'll run a late parade?
Oh, yes-now I remember-it was called E-nite!

This was just posted by 10nis on another thread. It may change between now and January 2.

here is what I got from a concierge planner at BWI... Let's you know what rides are going to be open during the EMH. AT the end of this it also instructs how to get the wristband for EMH-evenings.

Happy planning!

Morning Extra Magic Hour occurs one hour prior to regularly scheduled Park opening and you will need to present a valid Key to the World Card at the park's turnstiles. In order to enjoy the Evening Extra Magic Hours, you should obtain a wristband at the theme park by presenting a valid Key to the World Card no sooner than two hours prior to Park close.
I hope this helps! Please let me know if there is anything at all we may assist you with!

I think for now, just keep in mind the need for some flexibility in your planning. How the EMH will work out is still a bit of an unknown factor--and it can still be changed by Disney.
Good luck on your trip!

Also, for the MORNING hours, Kali River Rapids won't be open. Apparently, it WILL be open for the evening hours.

(edit to add: at least, if they continue to open Kali after the rest of the park is open, it won't be open for the morning EMH)

Eric,

Does Kali close due to temperature? Assuming it is open during the extra evening hours - I'm thinking the temperature could be in the 30's some January evenings.

The information that I've seen says that Kali will be available seasonally (translation, it probably will close when it's too cold outside). It also seems to imply that it will be available for both the morning and evening EMHs.

What's the "World Card" I present my key to in order to get a wristband?

Is there going to be a "capacity" for the evening EMH like they have for e-nights? Can we get there RIGHT before the regular park closing time and still get a wristband?

During the test, there was no capacity, however the number of guests on property who took advantage of the feature did not cause any major lines. The reason E-ride nights had a sell-out is because it was only 9 attractions (as opposed to the two largest lands in MK for EMH) and there was an extra charge.
I wouldn't worry about it because it's already been taken into account.
That being said, you will have to use your park admission ticket to get into the park for EMH, so it really doesn't matter when you show up.

Good point Safari Steve!

Since I was not there for the test period last May,
my only previous experience was with E-nights. I forgot that there were alot less rides offered during an E-night than have been announced for EMH. That should help offset the fact that the number of people attending EMH is not restricted beyond being an on-site guest. Meaning there will probably be more people in the park on EMH than a typical E-night because you don't have to buy a ticket, but there are more attractions available to spread us out.
