Scheduling a Wedding

Quick question:

I know you have to wait 9 months before the event to schedule a wedding, but how far in advance can you book your package/resort? This has to be booked before the wedding, correct?

Also, does anyone know if you can switch resorts halfway through your stay? Our guests arrive on a Saturday and we'd like to spend some time with them at a value resort, but switch to AKL once the ceremony happens on Tuesday.

Booking windows vary depending on the type of wedding you want: 12 months for Wishes, 8 months for Escape, 6 months for Memories.

You don't have to have your Disney hotel booked before you can make an Escape or Memories booking—you can give them the number later when you get one. There is no prohibition on resort-hopping either. Technically you're not allowed to have an Escape event the same day you check in, but if you were already staying at a different Disney resort the night before, they're not going to hassle you.

If you are booking a package (with tickets etc.) it's about 9 months beforehand, rooms can be booked much further out. I just booked a room for a friend of mine who is doing an Escape wedding in Feb 2015, and I was told right now they have up till Aug 2015 in the system....
You can always book the room only, then change it to the package when those prices come out.

You can switch resorts, or resort hop as many times as you like. It's easy peasy to do. Most of our longer stays we resort hop. ie. On our wedding trip we did a week at BoardWalk and a week at AKL.
If you end up booking a package though, each ressie for each location will be a separate package...if you KWIM....

This is what we're doing - spending Friday-Monday with guests. Our ceremony is a Monday and we will move to another resort on Tuesday.
