Seems like a dumb question but I notice it is supposed to rain everyday while I am the the world, for 8 days, but it says isolate or scattered on certain days and it's about a 30% chance each day....think we will be seeing A LOT of rain? I mean I know its Florida, but jeesh....rain everyday?!?! I am from Jersey and I swear last week we had rain for a whole week, it was so depressing, now I am going to go to Disney and have rain all week again? Don't want to sound like a nag but I am a little upset

Tropical showers in Florida are normal, especially between May and September. Florida rain comes and goes quickly most of the time, and it does not cool off during the rain....it just gets steamy. I would suggest picking up some ponchos and bring flip flops or sandals to wear while it is raining if you are worried about your normal shoes getting wet. You will be fine...the rain doesnt stop the thousands of people from enjoying WDW despite it. :wizard:

Last year in June when we were there, it rained everyday from 4:00pm-6:00pm. However, it never really stopped us. We ate dinner around that time and by the time we finished the rain moved out. The hotter the day, the more chance of rain. When the day is at its hottest around 4:00pm, most likely time for a quick storm. Wear a poncho and just keep going.

Well that's fine, I am thinking CONSTANT rain all day everyday, no sun! Will this be the case?

Where we are as well - (Baton Rouge, LA) this starts the season for 4p rainshowers that you can almost set your clock by.....

But this is a good thing....you can enjoy the parks early....the rainshowers will come in and drive off most guests while you eat, then enjoy clear nights.

Then ride the rides with no waits....

Have a great trip!

I think that's the forecast for Orlando (Disney) thru September!! Don't let the forecast for rain worry you. If it rains you grab a poncho and keep doing!!

The kind of rain they are prolly referring to are what happens in the afternoons. The rain pops up, may pour for about 20 mins then stops. Just enuff to get everything nice and steamy. If it was supposed to rain all day every day, the % would be a lot higher.

I saw on the weather channel today that FL hasn't gotten any rain all month. That's just bizarre!

note the meteorological terms are confusing by nature. scattered and isolated refer to coverage areas, not frequency and a 30% chance doesn't mean 30% chance it will rain, but a 100% likelihood it will rain covering 30% of the forecasted area which means to YOU, there's a 30% chance you'll be affected by it.

also note that while quick, afternoon, daily showers are almost a given in orlando during the hurricane season (and thereabouts), weather forecasts can't be trusted, scientifically speaking.

Agree. That's the standard fall-back "chance" forecast they always give. It suggests to me it probably won't rain at all. Certainly not every day and certainly not a washout.
But remember--that forecast could change tomorrow!!

I will be in WDW on Friday and just yesterday I checked the weather and was very upset to see rain and T-storms for the whole week we will be there. Reading these responses have made me feel little better. I had planned to do a resort day, no parks and we were to do parasailing and waterskiing and to rend a cabana at the GF for our resort day. Of course the day I planned on doing all that it says a 60% chance with T-storms so it seems like we will have to plan something else to do.

I am trying not to get upset...but it's hard.

We always joke that being a TV Weather-person in Orlando is the easiest job in the world. From Spring through Fall all you have to do is say, "Today we'll see warm temperatures, with high humidity, and an afternoon Thunderstorm. Oh...and it will be the same for the next 6 months." :rotfl:

I'm wearing my swim flippers to the parks.... :lmao:

Remember, rain is your friend - shouldn't affect much of anything.

When we first moved to central Florida, my husband always said he should get the job as the weatherman because he would be really good as saying that exact same phrase everyday!

For everyone "upset" by the rain I understand but please realize that we need the rain here. I would rather deal with the rain than to deal with the smoke from wildfires. A few years back I remember that they had some fires that were close to Disney enough that the smoke really bothered alot of people and kept them in their hotels. Very rarely will we get all day rain (I miss it, its been awhile) usually its a shower that will last 30 mins at the most but please don't be walking around if its lightning. Florida is the lightning capital of the world. We have people die from not respecting it enough to stay indoors. Just hop into a gift shop and look around. The one ride to avoid if it has rained is test track. Standby said 30 mins we waited 2 hours, They were letting single rider and all FP go first the whole 2 hours. Imagine people that were on Soarin' and stroll over to TT got on faster than standby. Its a ride we never go standby again.

Lets all do this. We will do a only rain at night rain dance. Aww to sleep during a thunderstorm.

Also you can't go by a forecast that is more than 3 days out. On Friday last week it said that this Friday was 60% chance of rain, now its down to 30% which means 1 brief shower if that.

Mary...I'm here in Baton Rouge as well! I was worried about the weather forecasts for next week also but I think as long as it's the usual weather pattern we see here in the summer, I think it will be fine. Now, with that being said, if it's the kind of storm we had yesterday afternoon I'm going to be running for cover! THAT was scary thunderstorms! :scared:

The rain is great it clears the park out and it cools down for a short time.

a solution- dont check the weather! I refuse to look, I cant change it. I am also from NJ, and yes last week sucked, but we didnt have isolated or scattered showers, we has major rain storms.
I am sure no one wants wild fires, but I agree, I would love not to be washed out on my only vacation in years!

It will more than likely be quick afternoon rain storms although I am sorry to say I hope it downpours all day, not to ruin anyones trip, but b/c we really need the rain everything is dry, dusty, and dying around my house.

I live in Dallas now but I was born and raised in Jersey and I know what you mean. A lot of people don't know this but in Jersey rain means heavy cloud cover and dreary grey days for long stretchs sometimes. Since I moved to Texas I've learned about the phenomenon of "isolated thunderstorms". It will be sunny and nice, then clouds come in and it rains for an hour, then the sun comes out again and it's all sunny again but just a tad cooler. It's not an awful destroyer of days... it's a passing rainstorm.

Don't get me wrong, I've witnessed some huge storms when in the parks, but that's not what's being predicted right now. It's still ok though. I remember being at Typhoon Lagoon when a HUGE storm hit. Loud thunder and big bolts of lightning with blinding rain... Most everyone fled the parks but we stayed in the cave/restroom area by the kiddy pools. An hour later the storm ended and the park was EMPTY. We had the whole place to ourselves for an hour before people began returning. It was a fantastic Disney memory.
