leaves on any trees! Poplars are just starting but nothing else-small buds where leaves are supposed to be! Read the post about no lilacs and thought "hey we don't even have leaves yet!"

Its such an odd year so far, we have maybe had 3 decent warm 'short sleeves' days so far!

Getting frost tonight---its one degree celcius right now, sick of the cold especially since our summers only last until mid-August-- woohoo there's something to look forward to, 3 months of summer maybe, if it ever really warms up over zero.....

Anywhere else not enjoying summer yet?

We are in the deep south, and it is going to be 40 degrees in the morning. About 25 degrees below our normal low. I am ready for 80s & 90s myself, this is crazy to have to wear a jacket on May 18th.

I saw 2 Bald Eagles flying above my house yesterday, I am in the beginning of the Ozark Bluffs. Now it is not unusual for Bald Eagles to dip into MO for the winter, normally they hang out along the Mississippi River Buffs, which is 50miles north. However, they should have gone north-north by now.....right?

(From a website)
During the winter, the Middle Mississippi River Valley hosts one of North America's largest concentrations of bald eagles, who are drawn to areas of open water in search of fish, their preferred food. The 2925 foot low-water River Dam #27 just south of the bridge, often called the Chain of Rocks rapids, is a permanent rock-fill dam built in 1960 to insure adequate depths for the old Alton Locks. The rapids insure that water stays free of ice and attracts bald eagles looking for easy fishing.

ETA.....

AHA...looked it up. They are supposed to leave about March.

Where Eagles Soar
Birds also migrate south from Canada and the Great Lakes region to the Lake of the Ozarks. The most spectacular are the American bald eagles and occasionally the rare golden eagle. In fact, only Alaska and Washington have more wintering bald eagles than Missouri. About 2,800 bald eagles annually migrate to Missouri, including more than 100 that congregate at the Lake of the Ozarks to spend the winter soaring high above the Osage River and Bagnell Dam and diving for fish. These majestic birds arrive in October and remain in the area until middle or late March.

“Every season, the eagles seem to stay longer,“ Ernst says. “In fact I saw a bald eagle in late March and they have usually moved on by then.” Ernst adds, for his annual eagle survey, in 2007 he counted 52 bald eagles and one golden eagle during a 50-mile run on the Lake

Everyone here is talking about the terrible weather, frost warning here last night as well. Going to be a short summer here as well. We might start to see a slight warming up starting today.....

I, for one, am thrilled that it's still relatively cool; it's going to be 95 with 10,000% humidity around here soon enough! We're around 54 right now, due to have a high of 80 today. That's absolutely perfect as far as I'm concerned. :goodvibes

Here in upstate NY the leaves actually bloomed about a week early this year. Ususally the last day of April they just open-new green color! I do remember when we first moved to our home here (about 3 yrs ago) the oak tree in our yard hadn't bloomed while everything else did-we seriously thought about having it cut down...glad we didn't it is an amazingly beautiful tree-leaves just opened within the past week. I think some trees, bushes tend to be a bit slower in the blooming process.

I have just had to turn my ac on in the past couple of days. I can't remember if that is unusual but it seems like it is usually hotter then it by now. We did have temps over 100 a few weeks ago. The longer I don't have to turn my AC on the better. My ac bill is like someone in the midwests mortgage payment. Nope not kidding.

You's guys are crazy! Here in mid-state NC, the grass is lush and green, the trees have been fully bloomed since last month, and the only cool day was Sunday and yesterday.

It's beautiful today!
