Scary, Sad, and just plain DISGUSTING!

Not to be graphic, but the article says he was charged with sodomy. I'm thinking there should have been some indication of pain and discomfort from the child.

Odd, no one gets up to check the commotion of the door being broken down and the 14 year olds never hear a thing, and the girl is treated for "discomfort"? This is just one odd story.

How did the parents not hear the door being kicked in? Where were the two fourteen year olds who were in the same room as the nine year old? "At some point she got up and went in and told her mother that there was somebody in her bed." Didn't anyone notice she was being raped? Even if they're all incredibly heavy sleepers who can sleep through a broken door and a drunken man stumbling around their hotel room (or the next door room containing their children)... I still can't imagine any child suffering silently through what he's been charged with doing. And wouldn't she need medical attention, besides just being "very upset"?

There seems to be something missing from this story... :confused3

In any case, it's awful.
This. How does everyone sleep thru this???

The article did not say she was raped. The article said "the man crawled into bed with the 9 year old and molested her." What actually took place, was, of course, not mentioned in the article. And he was charged on "one count of sodomy and 3 counts of child molestation."

Correct, but he was charged with sodomy which, I think is more than fondling; correct?

Parents - this is why you don't leave your children in the hotel room unattended even at the happiest place on earth!!! It can happen and would you want to take the chance????

Well, he's being charged with sodomy. And he's not being charged with molesting anyone other than the 9yo... Of course 2 and 2 does not ALWAYS equal four in these situations.

Is the act of sodomy illegal in this state? Could he be being charged for an unrelated, consensual encounter with an adult, earlier in the evening?

Trying not to be too graphic, but if they're charging him with sodomy, it sounds like there was touching but not interc0urse.

Um... have you looked up the definition of sodomy? It IS intercourse, simply via a different route.

Sodomy can mean an instrument was used, or a different part of the body. I don't know why you're arguing with me. I didn't say she wasn't raped or molested. I just think the fact that he's being specifically charged with sodomy could shed a little light on what happened.

The point I was trying to make is that a rape kit and medical attention would not be necessary for molestation and/or sodomy (depending on specifics). Also, the actual definition of both of these is dependent on the state.

It is not always intercourse. That is what it is usually referred to, but not always the case.

It's a very strange story. I don't understand why the parents didn't go check when they heard the noise, even if they did think it was in the hall. I also don't understand how the 2 14yr olds could sleep through what was going on. I would think the girl would have made some kind of noise that would have alerted someone.

medical attention would most certainly be necessary if a child was sodomized.

Then why were you arguing with ChrizJen when she said, "Sodomy is rape..."? Do you mean to say that sodomy isn't rape, but molestation is?

Personally, I don't think the additional charge of sodomy sheds any light. It just confuses the issue. If all he did was "touch" her as has been suggested in this thread, then multiple counts of child molestation should cover it, no?

I agree, it's a very strange set of circumstances.
Sodomy suggests penetration, so I think it's safe to assume it went beyond molestation.

No, not really. At least not in the state in which this occurred.

Wow, so according to that link, if he even encourages her to touch him - he's committed sodomy. I'm confused however as to what wouldn't fall under "deviant sexual intercourse" according to that link. "Any sexual act involving the genitals of one person and the mouth, tongue, hand or anus of another person" pretty much covers absolutely anything any two people can do to each other.

Plus, bestiality is legal in Missouri and married persons "are considered property that always consents to sexual use"???? Good Lord! :scared1:

I didn't read the other link, but as the statute link I posted shows, the issue is the victim's age. The law was written that way to allow for especially severe penalties for ANY sexual contact with a pre-teen child, even if the situation is consensual.

Honestly, I hate that the state uses this particular term for this purpose, because it always makes any molestation situation sound that much more awful, and it is the victim that often suffers for that. It gets people's nasty curiousity up, and kids are hounded if anyone manages to identify them, which happens all too often in molestation cases.

PS: As to his having a key when he went to the desk, yes he did, but it was a key to ANOTHER room. If the clerk was going to issue a new key without seeing ID (which I DON'T like, btw; IMO they should always call Security to escort you if you don't have ID on you), it should have been a new key that matched his registered room number, not just the room that he THOUGHT was his room. Any time I've asked for a duplicate key, the clerk will at very least ask me for my room number and then ask me for my name to verify that the name matches the guest registry for the room that I claim that I'm in.
