I was doing my crossing guard thing and this car pulled up. The man got out of his car to open the door for his daughters. As he was walking around the car to open the door, the car started moving. He opened the door and reached across one of his daughters to pull the emergency brake. I was trying to hold onto the door, but had gloves on and was pretty useless.

He got the car stopped about 5 feet from where my 10 yo daugther was sitting in my car not knowing anything was going on. 5 feet from her door. :eek: It was going fast enough it would have hurt her. Probably not seriously, but I was really scared there for about 15 seconds.

I'm glad the man's car was stopped before hitting your daughter! That was probably a very long 15 seconds for you!

Wow! I'm glad everything turned out okay! I know you were terrified!

What a scary experience. Good thing the car parked and your DD was okay.
Not long ago, I did that same thing. I parked (or so I thought) on a friends driveway to run something up to her at her door. I left the kids in the car. When I got back in, my DS2 said "we were moving". I kind of thought that was a strange comment and then I thought, "gee, I don't remember parking this close to her garage". Fortunately, my friend lives in a home with a very slanted driveway and when I didn't put the car in park, it cruised all the way up. I'm very lucky it stopped before running through her garage and into the back of her van.
I was really shook up after that. I still don't know how I didn't put the car in park....it's such an obvious thing to do.

I know that fifteen seconds were probably the longest fifteen seconds for you. I am glad everyone is o.k.

Yikes!!!!:eek:
I would have been having a conniption fit!

How scary! Glad he managed to get his car stopped! {{{HUGS}}}

It's amazing how long 15 seconds will last.

Yikes! How scary!!!!
Thats a good reminder to always check that the car is in park. Thanks for posting and Im glad everyone was ok. We had an incident locally last year where a mother left her minivan in drive, it rolled down a hill while the kid was exiting, hit a pole, and the door struck and killed the child. Its so sad to think, something so simple could have saved this kids life.

Oh man! That must've been so scary! Thank goodness he thought quickly enough to reach in and grab the emergency brake...some people would've just freaked and let it go :( I know my brain doesn't always react real quickly in situations like that. :(

How scary that would be!!! So glad the car didn't hit your DD!:eek:
