Scary Day...Not Sure What is Wrong...

H All,

I am home and resting. It is done with and while I can't exactly say that it went "well," I can say that I am glad I did it (and that it's over). I was there for an hour because they did not want me to leave right away. Apparently I looked extremely pale and they were concerned about fainting. Don't you just love it when people tell you you look like crap? ;)

They are going to call me in "about a week" with the results. In the meantime, I am supposed to have more food with sugar towards the first half of the day when these episodes occur. Do you think insurance will cover trips to Disney for Dole Whips?

Right now, I'm feeling really tired and out of it. I am not sure if it is the potential hypoglycemia that they think I might have or just from the experience at the doc's. The weird thing is that I don't remember much from when I got the bloodwork done. I guess this phobia is worse than I thought.

Thanks again to everyone for listening to me whine. I've received a lot of PMs and messages on FB plus support on this thread and it has been very helpful. I know I sound like the biggest baby, but this phobia is not something I can control. Sean said I did really well today and we pointed out a few differences between this and eight years ago when I last got bloodwork done. I can't wait for the results to come back so I can move on and get better.

Hugs to all,

Nikki

I am glad you made it through ok. My DH has issues with doctors and "testing" so I know your pain.

I hope they have good news for you in a week. I think you will definitely need more Dole Whip trips.:wizard:

I am so glad that the testing is over!

Relax this weekend. I think you deserve a Dole Whip!!

Glad to see you made it through the tests! Don't feel like you are whining - everyone has some issue with something. I get incredibly anxious (heart races, sweaty palms, etc) if I'm driving during a thunderstorm - that's just my thing. Hopefully the doctors can give you plan of action soon and you'll be feeling better.
Good Luck.

Glad to hear that things went ok today. I was thinking about it earlier today and came to the boards to see if things went smoothly. Sometimes the waiting for results can make me anxious, but it sounds like the worst part is over for you. Hopefully the doctors can figure out what is happening and you will feel better soon.

You were very brave, you're looking out for your health, good for you.

You can't remember what happened when they took your blood because the brain will fail to move short term memories to long term when you're under extreme stress-as you probably were. You just kinda short circuited your brain because you were so freaked and it responded by just dumping the memories because they'd be stressful for you.

The brain is a VERY cool organ. Except when it wigs out and produces the occasional ocular migraine. Then you have to crab at it and say, hello? Brain? No time for this!

Just keep telling yourself you'll be ok, your brain will believe you :).

Nikki, I was thinking about you today as I was having a 2 hour Glucose Tolerance Test (blood draw every 1/2 hour) for a study I am participating in. I even tried to post while I was there, but the reception was terrible and I could not make enough progress on my iPhone to list the whole thread, let alone post to it.

Just know I was with you and thinking of you on the other coast!

Hi everybody,

I'm posting this from my iPhone. I was hospitalized yesterday and came home this morning. I'm ok but tired. It wasn't hypoglycemia. Will post more when I can.

I am sorry to hear this. I will keep you in my prayers. I hope they figure out what is wrong quickly!!!

Hi all,

Tests showed that my white blood cell count is way off. There's some type of infection and they are thinking bronchitis of all things. Weird, right?

When will they know for sure?
I can understand your apprehension. I have to complete my bloodwork on Monday. In addition to whatever else they are looking for, she is checking me for Lyme Disease. Sucks, huh?

Nikki, Thinking of you! Sending pixiedust: your way. Hope things work out.

Have you thought the 'spells' that you had were seizures? My son has epilepsy & when the seizure is over he gets very sleepy which you said you were also. Take care.
