I'm terrified about our hotel room. I'm not really sure why. Maybe because I have such high expectations for Disney and don't want to be let down???? We're staying at All Star Sports in September and Animal Kingdom Lodge n(savannah view) in December. Can anyone tell me what we have to look forward to? What are the rooms like? What is check in like? How was traveling within the parks (were you the last stop for the bus? was it a long ride?)? Can someone please put my mind at ease?

TIA!!

Well,
We stayed at All Star Sports in November , 2001.
We loved it as did our 2 DS-- 12 and 9 at the time.
We had a wonderful experience.
Hopefully someone who has been there more recently can ease your mind.

We are trying POP at the end of the week!
CANNOT wait!

All Star Sports has theiur own busses, but at night (after the parks close) they may share.
You will be ok in your room. They are a nice size and are not far from the main building (especially sports). Their food court is adequate and has essentials, and there is a bar by the pool.
I personally don't go to Disney for the motel room, we only sleep and shower there. I would rather spend my time in the parks.

It's going to be okay. Maybe reviewing more information will help. I'd start here:

I hope you have a great trip!

Don’t expect too much from AS sports. The room is not as large as you think it will be. There are no frills to the room other than the décor. AKL will be much nicer than AS Sports, especially the pool. But the overall thing about staying on the property is, how clean your room will be. Having stayed at nearby hotels, nothing has compared to the cleanliness of Disney. Just remember to have a good time and don’t let the little things disappoint you. We have never had any problems with transportation unless we have stayed outside of the property. Good luck

We haven't stayed at the All Star Sports, but were at the AKL last year - and LOVED IT!!!
The rooms are pretty good-sized, and the theming at the hotel is great! We had DS11 and Ds7 with us, and they really enjoyed seeing the animals and all of the artwork there. Lots of activities at the AKL. Our rooms were always clean and freshly made up, and the staff there was terrific. Always friendly, and loved talking to the boys about Africa!
We had a rental car, so can't comment about the transportation. :confused3
Restaurants at AKL were wonderful!
Stop worrying, enjoy your planning, and have a great couple of trips!

I don't really understand why you are scared. ASSPorts is a fun resort but don't expect too much of your room. 2 beds and a bathroom. AKL is great. 2 queen beds and a bathroom. Also a balcony to see the animals.

AKL is a great resort.

You are worrying over nothing

ASSports is a clean resort with great theming.....the room is just basic though and small.......AKL is wonderful and we LOVED the Savannah view - well worth our $$.

Don't expect too much, disney is charging for location, not room quality :P. I'm sure you'll love both resorts, but neither are luxury hotels, Disney doesn't really have any luxury hotels. They do have a couple "themed" that way, but just like the poly isn't hawaii, their luxury is not luxury.

We stayed at All Star Sports. We thought it was fine. We were in the surf building near the pool, but that pool was closed during our stay, so I can't assess the noise level for you in that location. We did hear toilets flushing in other rooms so the rooms are not soundproof. The rooms are very basic, but functional. If your trip is park-centered and you won't be spending tons of time at the resort, I think the All Stars are actually a nice choice.

If you're going to have breakfast in the room, you may want to rent a fridge. We didn't, but we were only there two nights before moving to another hotel. The food court was not bad food-wise. It suffered on ambience because it was very crowded and noisy -- but then that's pretty much a food court. It was no worse (and perhaps a bit better) than the Pepper Market at CSR. Frankly, we weren't all that impressed with the quick dining option at Grand Floridian (Gasparilla's) which we moved to after our All Star Sports stay. We rented a car and didn't use the buses, so I can't advise you on that.

We've also stayed at AKL-Savannah view. And, that was a wonderful experience -- truly lovely hotel and so unique with the animals right off your balcony. Great dining there, too. We used the buses at AKL and they were fine.

My prediction is you'll have a wonderful time at both hotels!
