Going on our first cruise Magic April 27/02 after a week at WDW. We will have our FRS radios and a scanner with us, I know we will be able to use the FRS on the ship and during shore trips but is there anything good to listen to with the Scanner. Do they use radio communications with the docking crews in ports etc.

Anyone tried listening with a Scanner onboard before, looking for some frequencys.:smooth:

Yes, I've tried on two occasions, both times in the Bahamas on the Wonder. On my last cruise on the Magic, I had battery problems and it wasn't worth bringing along. Now I have a new battery and no cruise! :(

I never found anything interesting at Sea, but I didn't try scanning as we were pulling into a port or out of a port.

I have a Bearcat 235 xlt and it has the trunk tracking ability.
I did find several frequencies while at WDW to listen to. I only used the scanner when we were back at our hotel, not while I was enjoying the parks. I found the Monorail, the Ferry Boats, and several Maintenance channels. Not sure if I still have a list of them or not, I'll look for it.
