In Friday's mail I received a letter telling me that I had been declined for credit at a major national retailer. Thing is, it has been years since I applied for credit at this store, and the name on the envelope is not mine. In fact, the name looks distinctly made up(something like Beauregard Mizoula). The other thing that seems fishy is this "decline" notice looks like most junk mail with the bar code just above the name and address, and a printed "presort" stamp on the envelope. I guess I will call the number on Monday, but I'm wondering if it's just some scam to get me to buy a credit report. If someone was ripping off my identity, wouldn't they be using my name?
