I am sorry about your dad passing away, but you have a wonderful idea in creating a memory book about him.
I started getting Simple Scrapbooking magazine just this year. I don't have them nearby, but I believe there was an article - maybe the March-April issue? - on this subject.
I have given memory books to two different friends after their loved one passed away. I just completed my second sb memory book earlier this month.
The first one was my very first scrapbook. The deceased & his family were Disneyholics - that is how I originally met his & his family. I knew these folks & have been to WDW with them, so it was easy to do. I found a booklet full of Disney pages to use plus stickers, etc. I gave it to the family, & the wife opened it & then quickly closed it & put it aside. I was so excited about how well my first sb came out. My first reaction was she didn't even look at it. Well, what I didn't realize was how emotional the book was for her (this was several years after her husband passed away). She sent a beautiful thank you note later

.
The second book was about a colleague's sister I had only met a couple of times. I gathered some stories from some siblings & other family members & friends. We attended a family gathering recently where I quietly presented the book to the husband & two sons (in their early thirties). Early on I questioned spending money on a good scrapbook & accessories for someone I hardly knew, but when I saw their faces, it made the whole scrapbook so worth while. They were very touched by not only what they saw inside, but by my time & effort to put this together.
I used an 8.5" x 11" top loading album for both memory books. I included stories (hand written & typed) & a few photos.
You might want to consider asking siblings, other relatives & various friends to write a memory about your dad. i provided the acid-free paper & pens for the individual to write on. Then we looked through my stickers, die cuts, etc. to give the page some individuality. Think about favorite activities, trips, hobbies; memories from childhood & growing up - yours & your dad's; how did your parents meet, their dating, wedding, etc.
I know this wil lbe a very emotional project for you, but please don't give up this wonderful idea. I think you will be pleased
