I have always taught my children to say thank you(and please too)! We recieving things or being served at a restaurant, they say thank you.

When we exit a ride, a bus or boat we always say "thank you" ot the CM. Does anyone else do this?

my parents taught me this. I always say thank you no matter what. My sister is teaching her kids right now that they should say thank you. I know my Dh and I will too. I think it's the nice thing to do.

my fiance always looks at me a little wierd, but i always say thanks. even if we pass by someone that's emptying the garbage, i say "thank you for keeping the park so clean."
but does anyone else ask "permission to come abord?" when going on one of the wdw boats? yeah, i know its wierd, but i was raised on the beach so we learned about asking permission at a really young age, and i guess it stuck. pirate:

My DD is 18 and I cant tell you how many 'friends' have had to learn those words - taught by me. One sweet friend never said anything or smiled when I met her - and was out and out rude... turn s out her mom and dad hardly spoke to each other a single civil word in years, dinner was whatever you scratched up - mind you they live in a nice house and drive nice cars - I insisted that she greet me when she came into my house, helped clean up after dinner(family must eat dinner together no matter what!) and thank and compliment the meal appropriately. Wave to me if you see me out. If I dont wave back its because I REALLY didnt see - she wasnt rude you see... she had no self esteem, or confidence and a desire to just be wall paper.

Now she is happy, polite, open, friendly.... smiles are reflective. Class is reflective. Warmth is reflective... it will all come right back to you.

Sometimes I wonder what is happening to 'families' today. I love this forum for that reason - everyone seems to be family oriented.

I always say "thank you" when exiting rides, too. I am a retail store manager and I even say "thank you" when leaving someone elses store after browsing, or buying. Most of my customers do to me. It makes you feel "appreciated" even in a small way since you're standing there 12 hrs a day on your feet! It's the polite thing to do.:flower1:

I often hear "thank you" at the parks and I am included in that. Saying thank you for things is a wonderful thing and I have never heard of anyone getting tired of hearing it. LOL

I think you'd be surprised at how rare a "thank you" can be, and I am big on thank you notes. I am always happy to hear it in the parks because it adds to the overall appreciation and the happiness, I feel. Yes, I thank the CMs after the ride. Somehow it doesn't conclude the ride for me if I don't. Strange, huh?

Everyone was impressed that our 2 1/2 year old did this during our April trip! I think it's great

Our family is big on please, thank you, excuse me, etc. also. Our dds (4 and 6) are good about using "good manners" but sometimes need to be gently reminded. (Thank you was on of the first 10 words my oldest daughter learned to say -- though it came out "tank goo". :))

Always. Especially when we see so many people doing a terrific job and they are being treated like second class types. Doesn't cost anything to be polite and the returns are huge.

I am a firm believer in good manners, think it makes the world a more wonderful place. I have, however, found that being polite can be a way to make others who are not quite mannerly themselves to stop whatever they might be doing. I try to combine this with a smile. Does not always work but you would be amazed at how often it does and it surely works better than retaliating. LOL Makes me feel better either way.

We haven't gone to a theme park at all with our kids yet, but I always thank servers at restaurants, people who hold doors, etc., and my DS (age 3) apparently noticed, because when we eat out, he thanks the server when they take our order, bring our drinks, bring our food, and check on us. He thanks almost everyone he comes in contact with as well, the cashiers at the store, whoever, and he tells them "Hab a good day!"
