Saying goodby to my furbaby

My heart breaks for you and your family! You will be in my thoughts tomorrow. :grouphug:

Our lives are richer because of the love we share with our furbabies!

As Sammie said:

10. When I am old, or when I no longer enjoy good health, please do not make heroic efforts to keep me going. I am not having fun. Just see to it that my trusting life is taken gently. And be with me on that difficult journey when it’s time to say goodbye. Everything is easier for me when you are there. I will leave this earth knowing with my last breath that my fate was always safest in your hands.

I have been there many times. It hurts like your heart has been torn out.
In honor of each of my dogs as they passed on to Rainbow Bridge, I have rescued another.

My heart goes out to you and your family. Try to remember the good times and share some silly stories of Toby. Toby loved you and he knows you loved him. :grouphug:

 You're doing what is best for your furbaby. Take comfort in that and all the wonderful memories you have of Toby.
Nancy

A big hug, best wishes and love coming to you from me.

I know how you feel about your precious baby. I'm afraid the time may be coming near for myself and my own precious one in the not too distant future. In fact, I was crying about in my office today. Even though you are doing the right thing, it is still difficult and sad. But you will get through it.

Take care. We are all with you in spirit.:grouphug:

As a fellow pet lover, we feel your pain. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Even though we know we are doing the right thing for our cherished pet, it is still so hard to let them go. After we had to say goodbye to our precious Bronco, I put together a slideshow of his 14 years with our family. Even though he has been gone almost 4 years, I still look at the slideshow every now and then and smile at the wonderful memories he gave us. Two years after he left our family, we were finally ready to welcome a new puppy into our home. We have had our Dory for 21 months now and she too has wormed her way into our hearts.

I'm so sorry to hear of the loss of your pet. They truly are like humans, and make such a mark in our hearts, it's hard to ever say goodbye. If you need support, this is the place to come. :goodvibes

THE TEN COMMANDMENTS OF DOG OWNERSHIP

1. My life is likely to last 10 to 15 years. Any separation from you will be painful.

2. Give me time to understand what you want from me. Do not break my spirit with your temper, though I will always forgive you. Your patience will teach me more effectively.

3. Please have me spayed or neutered.

4. Treat me kindly, my beloved friend, for no heart in all the world is more grateful for your kindness than mine. Don’t be angry with me for long, and don’t lock me up as punishment. After all, you have your job, your friends, your entertainment. I have only you.

5. Speak to me often. Even if I don’t understand your words, I understand your voice when it’s speaking to me. Your voice is the sweetest sound I ever hear, as you must know by my enthusiasm whenever I hear your footsteps.

6. Take me in when it’s cold and wet. I’m a domestic animal and am no longer accustomed to the bitter elements. I ask for little more than your gentle hands petting me. Keep my bowl filled with water. Feed me good food so that I may stay well, to romp and play and do your bidding. By your side, I stand ready, able and willing to share my life with you, for that is what I live for. I’ll never forget how well you’ve treated me.

7. Don’t hit me. Remember I have teeth that could easily crush the bones in your hand, but I choose not to bite you.

8. Before you scold me for being lazy or uncooperative, ask yourself if something might be bothering me. Perhaps I’m not getting the right food, I’ve been out in the sun too long, or my heart may be getting weak.

9. Take care of me when I get old. For you will grow old, too.

Very, very true. I'm actually crying right now because I miss my dog so much; we're in Colorado for the week and he's back home in Wisconsin. I can only imagine what it's going to be like to say goodbye for the last time. :sad1:

So sorry :sad1:

We had to put one of our kitties down last year. Most difficult decision of my life but it was the right one. Sending T&P your way.

:grouphug::grouphug::grouphug:
I had to put one of my cats down last Summer. You're in my thoughts.

I know this is the hardest situation to be in because Ive been in the same boat. I was smaller when this happened and I was Ill for most the time when I was smaller, and I had this one dog who I had then she passed away after I recovered soo I know the same feeling that you are going through, I am so sorry for you and hope you can get over it. Jamie

The morning I was to take my beloved 13 year old cocker spaniel, Max, to be put down a friend said to me..."our pets trust us to do what is best for them".
Somehow, that did comfort me.

Recently, we had our 11 year old cocker spaniel, Cagney, put down. It never gets easier.

Our pets are family members and the void in our lives their passing leaves is painful.

My thoughts are with you today.

We just had to put down one of our little guys 3 weeks ago. It was the first time I've had to make this decision and it was the hardest one I've ever had to make. But I know it was the right thing to do for him. I cried for days and am tearing up as I read this thread.
I am so sorry for your loss and send lots of hugs your way... :grouphug:

Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers...it is never easy to let go of a pet. For some reason I find losing one of my furbabies so much more difficult than any other loss. :( I hope that all the good memories help you through such a difficult and heartbreaking time. :grouphug:

My screen name is a tribute to my now departed Cocker Spaniel "Corky"paw:

She was a constant companion and I still miss her each and every day.

I wish you peace . . .

I am so sorry for you loss. :grouphug: I have a dog that is getting up in age and I can't imagine life without her.

My heart goes out to you and Toby. I recently went through this. ((HUGS))

Thank you for your suppost dis friends. Toby had a good morning we loved on him and brushed him. He even enjoyed the ride. I took the back roads becasue I know how much he loved to ride with us. He went peacfully and even though I know I did what was best for him, I know that a part of my heart went along with him. He was loving and devoted and a friend like none other. I will miss him terribly bit I am glad for the years and love we had together, that I wouldn't ever change. If there is a Rainbow Bridge as we pass on to eternity, I know he will be waiting there for me.

I am so sorry. Dogs are people too, grief over the loss of our furbabies is not easy. I hope you start to feel better soon

Sorry for your loss. Pets are family (otherwise why even have them). Sending good wishes to help you deal with his passing.
