I'm really surprised at how much less expensive the wedding gowns are on the UK. I know the UK has the VAT but the dresses are between $400 and $3000 American dollars, not $1,500 and up over $20,000. It a huge difference!

Are our prices really that different or is it just that particular shop?

Idk but I am seriously addicted to the US show... and I'm not even a big fan of weddings themselves... but dress shopping :love:lol

I'm guessing what we are seeing on the UK show is more in line with what one would find in an average bridal store in the US. I think Kleinfeld is just a larger and more upscale operation.

That makes a lot of sense!

I got the impression that Confetti & Lace is more in line with a David's Bridal. The store was very small and appeared to be inside of a mall.
Manhattan pretty much has the most ridiculous wedding costs of anywhere. Even the production value of the England show was just awful.

I love the premise of the show but hate that they showcase a store where a $3000 budget "just doesn't give us many options"
Ohhhh comeonnow - I wish this show was at a Davids Bridal or something similar - you know, the place where "most" of the regular people shop.

Kleinfeld's is definitely a high end shop and their minimum reflects that. Most of the $20K+ dresses shown are Pnina, and she is exclusive to Kleinfeld.
Say Yes to the Dress: Atlanta has dresses that are slightly lower than NY, but Bridals by Lori is also an upscale boutique.

About 2 years ago when SYTTD was really a big deal, there were a million spin-offs that featured local shops and the dress prices were much more in line with what a ~regular bride would pay. Most of those shows have died off, probably because it's hard to compare the excitement of finding a perfect $600 dress with the excitement of a custom designed $20k dress.
