This is without a doubt the loudest resteraunt I have ever eaten in. They take simple food and destroy it trying to be creative. Service, however was good and location great.

We had a wonderful dinner here last fall, one of our favorites! We'll be doing it again next week. We also had breakfast which I would agree with your review on that meal, it was horrible.

We ate there last Spring Break while we were staying at the YC and were not that impressed. DH is a meat and potatoes guy, they brought out his steak (I think it was a strip or a ribeye) and sweet potato fries, no french fries or baked potato available. He stole fries off DDs plate, :lmao: he was told that the fries were only for the childrens menu. Needless to say he was not happy. I think I had some type of pasta dish, it didn't leave an impression so it must not have been too great considering I love pasta.

You can say no if you want, but we've said yes before and will say yes again...on Christmas day,no less.

DM loved the food, and of course the restaurant is loud, it's got an open kitchen much like most mediterranean restaurants.

DH has a dish that he really likes there, so he is hooked, but me not so much. I have tried and tried to find something that I like, but I have not had a lot of luck. Our last visit (Mother's Day) was really just not what I would have hoped for to be honest. It is a loud place indeed. I do have a young DS myself, so that's okay, but the table next to us had a pair of VERY over-tired children. The parents were trying to stop the crying by pulling out their portable DVD player and watching Elmo. Not to say I don't understand, but needless to say, less than ideal for a nice day out for "mom!" On top of everything, again, I just don't care for their food. We are booked to go there again...I am hoping things have changed or yet again (I am reaching) I can find something else on the menu that I might enjoy...wish me luck!

We ate there last week and loved it. I feel sorry for those "meat and potatoes" people. Maybe they'd like the stuff they piled in front of us at Liberty Tree?

I use to like it until they took the only steak away. I tried the beef kabobs and did not like them at all. Put a steak back on the menu and I'll return. It's off our list until the next menu change. Our service at Spoodles has always been good, it's just the limited menu that keeps us away.

I'm confused. And I really mean this as a sincere, non-flippant question.

Why would a self-professed meat and potatoes, "simple" food type person go to a mediterranean themed restaurant, and then be upset that it's not a meat and potatoes, simple food kind of place?

I guess I don't understand if these bad reviews are a result of badly-done mediterranean food or a problem with the menu itself (being upset there isn't steak/simple food). I mean, certainly Italians eat steak, but I wouldn't go to an Italian restaurant looking for a great ribeye, kwim?

I agree with you 1000 times over. Know what you are getting yourself into, Spoodles is not for the meat & potatoes crowd. If you go to a Mexican or Chinese restaurant you won't find a steak there either. Sure you'll find beef entrees, just as you will at Spoodles, but not a steak.

Kind of funny, all you hear is that all the menu's seem to be the same, then you hear that everything's too different.

I completely agree.

It took us a while to try Spoodles as we have so many favorites. But now it has become a new favorite. There is something on the menu for all six of us and service has always been excellent.

Which is why we have never been to Spoodles. Not our type of food. las3888 goes there because her husband likes it. My husband and I are meat and potatoes people and we tried the Calfornia Grill after looking at the menu and being able to find things we could enjoy. And the Grill gets very high marks on the reviews. We did not like it at all and will not be going back. We won't go to Narcoosee's or the Flying Fish either.

You'll find us at Rose and Crown, LeCellier, Biergarten, Sci Fi Dine Inn, 50s Prime Time, etc.

Just back from a 14 day trip on the DDP. We ate here one night and I will say the food was awful. My husbands fish was over cooked. It was so dry it was awful. I got the steak kabob thingy and it was very fatty and I could not chew it. Other freinds of ares went here on a different night and they did not like their food either. The server was very nice and we did leave him an extra tip. We have no plans on going back.

I haven't been for dinner (unless you count getting pizza from the window - which was GREAT)....

But we went for Breakfast and it was HORRIBLE! Of course I was a little skeptical when we went in and no one was in there for breakfast (maybe 3 other tables were occupied). The food that morning was awful and service was even worse.

I'll never go back there for breakfast, but I might try dinner sometime.

We ate there and did not enjoy that type of food either. I have no doubt the food is good if you like the Mediterranean type of food. We had never tried it, and when we did found that we did not like it. To be fair to the people who are just meat and potatoe folks, you can go to some speciality restuarants and order a good steak. I have at both Italian and seafood places. Spoodles just didn't have that option.

Thank you for saying what I was too chicken to say. :thumbsup2

While I'm not too crazy about that kind of food, it's DM's favorite. She's been to Italy and Greece too many times to count, and she loved what she ate at Spoodles. Frankly I don't understand why there WOULD be a steak on a mediterannean restaurant's menu to begin with - can't remember eating beef in Greece, ever.

Thank you so much for clarifying. I'm just finding that sometimes it's hard to tell in a review if the "like" or "dislike" is about personal preference for certain tastes or about poor execution. I mean, I love mediterranean food, but I certainly wouldn't like dry fish or fatty meat. It really makes me realize that in the future if I am going to review a restaurant to help others, I will try to be specific about what my expectations were and where the restaurant succeeded or failed.

We had a horrible experience at Spoodles. :scared: I wouldn't go back. The Alfredo was horrible. The service was the wost I've ever had. We were extremely disappointed, but I love the location.

I'm sorry you had such a bad experience. Spoodle's is one of our favorites, though. We like the flatbreads, lemon shrimp, shrimp pasta, and the snapper. We don't mind the noise, either. We will be heading back in December.

We ate there last week. The food was okay, service was bad. I think I may have had bad service because we were sharing on free dining. Our appetizer dishes stayed on the table all through dinner, the waitress was no where to be found, drinks not refilled... I will give it another try, but not next year- too many other places to try first!!
