I recently went to MK hunting for a wooden gun like the one my dad got me every trip (cause I'd lose or break mine lol) n sure enough was told they banned it because of some 2001 California fake gun law? say it ain't so???:-( these guns have to exist somewhere rite?

THey were all over the place when I was at WDW the week before Easter.

oh I hope not! Those were my nephew and son's favorite souvenir from Disney. We have several, they are great and were played with a ton. Still have them and my Nephew is 30.

I didn't see them in a park, but I wasn't looking for them either. I did see them in the Fort Wilderness store, because my daughter, who was 10, picked one up and pointed it at me and the woman working there seemed like she was about to have a heart attack. She then yelled at my daughter. :confused3

This was in February of this year.

Cali law would only apply to DL. I was in DL in Jan and they had them but had signs everywhere saying they could not be carried home in a suitcase on a plane. You had to mail them. :confused3

I got one in May 2010. I hid it from the kids so they wouldn't break it. :lmao:

I'd forgotten about it until I read this thread! Thanks!!

We saw them in February at DL in CA. I want to say they were in the pirate store. The kids sitting next to us at the parade had them..... snap! Snap! Snap! For like an hour. LOL

They were there last week. In the gift shop at the exit of POTC. Maybe they're just banned in California?

when I looked after getting off pirites of the caribean last week all I saw were these cheap, made in china plastic things the called toy guns... frankly they looked like Santa Claus side arm lol a big plastic red and green gun

I'm going back on April 27th... any suggestions on where to look for the classic wooden gun we all grew up with?

Why would a California law have any affect on a Florida park?

California gun laws shape the entire country... they started the ban on tech 9s, hallow point rounds, fully auto ext.. I just never though anyone would ban something as innocent as a wooden toy that millions of kids grew up w. 1st river country closes, now this... :-( 2 memories that can't be replicated

They were all over the place last week in WDW. Though they are all brightly colored with orange ends, which is cool until the bad guys start to paint thier real guns bright colors :).

Perhaps because pointing a weapon, even a fake one, at a person can be seen as a sign of aggression by some people? Not all people think this way, but I don't like it when kids pretend to shoot at me.

:rotfl2: Not even close to being true. I don't know where you get your information. Without turning this into a gun rights thread tech 9's were junk, Hollow points aren't illegal and fully automatic firearms are federally regulated but not illegal in most of the country.

Now back to the regularly scheduled thread. I'll look for the wooden guns in a couple of weeks with my kids.

I was wondering why Florida would do anything based on a California law (except that Disney is a California-based company, isn't it?). The ones they had at WDW recenty didn't resemble actual guns and had very obvious orange plugs on the end. No doubt to prevent them being mistaken for real guns. Although I would not be surprised if they really did get rid of the wooden ones to market brightly colored plastic ones.

Correct.

That's the case with all new toy guns these days.

ok ... reminder we are looking for the classic wooden disney guns.... not plastic, not red n green, anyone seen one recently? they are 100% not outside the POTC ride exit... they used to b but was told they r gone... any pictures? locations? wooden gun we miss you lol

lol ohh boy... tech 9 were junk but were changed by CA to DC9s, hollow points were labeled "cop killers" and banned... the banned has since been removed in most states. NRA member since 81'... but this thread isn't about gun laws, Cali, or anything else but WOODEN GUNS AND WHERE ARE THEY LOL
