We just found out that my 82 yo father has 3rd stage lung cancer which has spread to 3 lymph nodes and his liver.

My wife and I have canceled our adults only BLT trip in February. We are praying that dad responds well to radiation and Chemo and can bounce back. He is a big Braves fan so I plan to take him down to WDW for 2011 Spring Training if he is up to it.

Your prayers will be deeply appreciated!

You have my prayers! Stay strong, live with no regrets. I hope he feels well enough to make spring training.

So sorry to hear this. Prayers coming that he will tolerate his treatments well and have success with them.

Your family will be in my prayers. I hope you are able to make that trip with him!

Your Dad & family will be in our prayers.

Peace.

I am with you.. We just learned on Monday some bad news too. I am with you on this journey. Stay strong.

Prayers and thoughts are with you. May your dad respond well to treatment and your trip to Spring Training be a celebration. Take Care.

You & your family are in our prayers....

GOD SPEED...

Robin & Angel "D" hugs from us to your family...

Your father and your family are in all of our thoughts and prayers! Be strong and have faith that he will win this battle :grouphug: (Our trip may be cancelled too but for financial reasons. I pray that he will be strong enough to join you for your anticipated Spring trip!)

I sit here all teary eyed just reading your post...I lost my own Dad to lung cancer about 3 years ago. It's a beast of a disease (as any cancer is I suppose). I recall the first few weeks and months after his "unoffical" diagnosis and all the anxiety and concern that we all felt and had such a difficult time expressing. A very difficult time for any family for sure! Our prayers are definately with your family!!

Early on, I found a website that was invaluable for information and support and thought I would pass it along to you...

http://lungevity.org/l_community/index.php

Now is the time to live for today...everyday, spend as much time as possible with him and cling tightly to these memories (and others) in the days ahead, these memories and the love of your family will see you all through whatever is to come.

If you have any questions or just need to bounce things off someone who has in many ways "been there - done that" please send me an PM. While our journey may be VERY different from what your family has or will experience, I found it was always helpful to know that there were others on a similar path.

May the peace of God's grace be with you and your family as you progress on this journey!

Cindy

Thank you to everyone that has posted and for the many prayers that has been sent up on our families behalf.

We have scored a small (yet major) victory in that Dad's brain scan MRI came back clean.

We meet with his radiology oncologist today and his other oncologist (don't remember the official title) tomorrow to learn of his prognosis and course of treatment.
