Saw UP tonight!

I don't think all the sad parts were as over my 5 yr olds head as I thought...She asked me about it before bed last night..My advice, if you are at all concerned, go to wikipedia.org and read the plot synopsis.it may ruin and spoil it a little , but you won't be so off guard .

We just got back from a 3-D showing. I would not spend the extra money again on the minimal effects. The story was great! All of the characters are loveable. THere are a few brief scenes that may be on the scary side, but none of the children around me seemed to be bothered by it. If someone has an intense fear of dogs, they may be uncomfortable for a moment, but fine otherwise. Enjoy!

We took 12 seven and eight year olds, both boys and girls for DS's eighth birthday party last night. There were also several parents with older siblings (12-14 range) who joined in with the reserved party seating since they wanted to see it also. Every single person in our party loved it. From the two 14ish year old boys to the youngest six year old girls as well as the parents. I was definitely affected by the sad parts in the beginning, but DD6 seemed to miss what had happened since there was little (no?) dialog at that point. DS8 kind of got it but still had to ask questions about what had really happened.

We did see it in 3D. Three or four of the kids after said they felt funny/dizzy. I had never experienced that before with 3D glasses.

We all loved the short ahead of it and were excited to see the TS3 teaser.

My 6 year old son and I saw it today--overall, very good. (The animation is astounding!):cool1:

However...the sad part at the beginning, I looked over as it ended, and he had taken his 3-d glasses off and was crying (very quietly), because "It's so sad, Carl doesn't get to be with his Ellie anymore." And this is not a kid who cries or is scared easily. He was fine a few minutes later, and mostly forgot about the sad part--but it threw me for a loop there.:sad2:

I went yesterday to see Up with my two nieces who of course had to go to the bathroom multiple times during the movie . So I missed some of it. We all agreed it was amazing!! I love Carl and Russell.

I went again today to see the whole thing. As soon as I got home I bought all the Up pins on disneyshopping.com and a few on ebay. You know you have a bad pin habit when you are watching a movie hoping they make pins based on certain moments. I hope they make Carl and Ellie's mailbox a pin and grape soda cap a pin.

I honestly think it was the best pixar movie yet if not the best movie ever!! I can't stop thinking about it.

All you guys are saying that the movie is great and that your kids were not too sad over a few scenes.

However, one of my good friends advised me NOT to see it as it had scenes in a montage about the character showing apparently a scene to let us know that they could not have a child (or lost one) and that the character got older and became a widower. My friend said she thought it would not be age appropriate for my 4 and 6 year old.

Now I am confused....

Help! My kids are asking to see this!

For those who have seen this movie ....

Could you tell me why it's rated PG instead of G? Is it just because of the "sad" parts? Or is there more dialogue/innuendo similar to "Shrek"?

TIA:)

Just got back from taking my 10, 9, and 5 year old daughters..and while yes, there were a few sad parts, it was a great movie. :) All my kids really enjoyed it!

I don't recall any "Shrek"-like dialogue/innuendo. I think the PG comes from a fight scene between the villian and Carl and a scene with Carl having an outburst. Scenes with the pack of dogs might be scary to some little ones. The sad parts were pretty brief. I do here a lot of people talking about how they cried during the movie but I don't think it is really from the sad parts but the film is so touching. At least that was my experience.

Myself, DH and DDs 17 and 13 saw it this afternoon. It was great. We all loved it. I think it is a great family movie!

We *just* got back from the movie!

DS, who is 4, said the fight scenes were scary and he was unhappy that the people were so mean to the dogs. He liked the movie, but because he's a very sensitive child, I think he was really struck by a few scenes.

I have to agree with what others have said, I was surprised that it was so heartwrenching at times! I think DH would agree!

BTW, we didn't view it in 3D. We saw Bolt in 3D and were UNDERwhelmed.

We would all recommend it! Three thumbs up! :)

My 3yo was scared for a few parts so be prepared for that. HE loved Dug and Kevin. We went straight to the Disney Store afterwards and he got a stuffed Dug. We were disappointed that there was not any Kevin merchandise.

I was just on disneyshopping.com and it says a Kevin plush is coming soon!!

Saw UP! this afternoon. It was sad but Only in parts. Those who have questions should definatly check the wiki and other trailors.

Ok was going to do a hiden spoiler but can not figure out how to do that. I hope someone who is able to do the hidden text can answer the poster about the Infertility scene.

I don't know how to do hidden text either, but I sent a PM about the scene to the poster who was asking.

To see the hidden spoilers: click your left mouse key & drag over the spoiler part - you are highlighting it & it should show up.

We saw it yesterday: my sons are 5 & 8. Very touching in some parts and that made me & DH cry. It's just life I guess (spoiler: couldn't have children, loss of a spouse). I think it touched DH & I on a relationship level, KWIM? My older son realized what happened to Ellie and just said, "oh, ok", but it went over DS5's head.

I didn't realize it was PG; there were chase scenes, but my kids were ok with it. We all loved it. We saw it in 3D, but I would skip that - not worth it.
