HA: We are big fans of scary attractions and we know that you licensed the Saw properties to one last year. Did you go and experience it for yourself?

MB: The Saw Haunted House in California? Yes I went down and it scared the crap out of me! There were people jumping at us from all angles and horrible scenes around every corner – it was really fun and has encouraged us to do more.

HA: Oh yes? Anything you can tell us about?

MB: Yes this is very exciting – we have just signed a deal with Universal to bring Jigsaw and the world of Saw to Halloween Horror Nights this fall, both in Orlando and LA. I know in previous years they have had Freddy Kruger and Leatherface well this time Jigsaw gets to do his thing! Watch for more information coming soon!

HA- Haunted Attractions
MB- Mark Burg, Producer of the Saw series

Now that this has been confirmed, what do you think this year's HHN will hold for us?

DH is very excited about this idea. I don't think I'll be going! I am a big wimp! But I do love Bill and Ted!

hack, if some deal was just signed, it doesn't necessarily mean it will happen right away.
you only listed a small insert of the original interview.

what date did that interview take place?
let us know if you do know.

the creative people that work on hhn each year, begin their work the day after the last hhn is over.
meaning, last year, the day after the finale hhn night, work started on theme, and everything else that goes into it.

i don't even try to guess the years theme.
it doesn't matter as i am going no matter what.
it's an annual ritual of mine...:)

Mac, the interview has to be farely recent. Saw the Ride just opened this year.

This was an interview for Saw: The Ride, which opened yesterday. Previews were on 3/13/09.

we have just signed a deal with Universal to bring Jigsaw and the world of Saw to Halloween Horror Nights this fall, both in Orlando and LA.

It's probably a one-year deal, as they state Saw will be at HHN this fall.

While I really like the Saw movies series, I don't think any one film series can carry the whole event. I can't imagine having six or eight Saw houses as well as Jigsaw being the icon. I can see a Saw house being done but that's about it...kinda like Dead Silence two years ago. I liked the movie but I can't think of any movie series carrying an entire event.

I guess we'll have to wait and see.

I can't see an entire event around Saw, either.

If the house is done right, it could be amazing.

I saw this posted elsewhere so thought I would share it with the HHN fans here as there seems to be an interest in this year's event already

A recent interview over at Haunted Attractions UK with Saw producer Mark Burg revealed a bit of potential information for this year's Halloween Horror Nights.

... all I can say right now is let's hope they keep it to just one house and not base the entire event around it if it is true ...

I honestly don't know what to think about this ... I'm with Metro, they could get away with having one house based on SAW, but not a whole event ...

Well, the interview did say the world of Saw, but left it vague. So it could just be a house......hopefully. Though, it could be something similar to this past year where it was different fears that Jigsaw has exploited? Which, IMHO, sounds a bit repetitive. Luckily, only a few months till we find out what's going to be going down!! :thumbsup2

I haven't seen any of the Saw movies but wanted too. Finally got tired of waiting and read their synopsis on wikipedia. Although the movies sound terrifying, I agree that there doesn't sound like there is enough variation to comprise of multiple houses.

Actually, I think it would be cool to bring back The Director and have several movie based houses. Of course, one reason that I'd like to see this done is that I missed HHN a couple years ago when one of the houses was based on The Thing, and I'd love to see that house or a new variation of it.

We could have a house dedicated to the classic Universal monsters (Dracula, Wolfman, Frankenstein, The Mummy, Creature From The Black Lagoon, etc.); a house dedicated to torture horror movies (Saw); a house dedicated to Sci-Fi horror (The Thing); a comedy horror house (the Evil Dead movies); a horror B movie house (similar to Monster from last year). There are several other types of horror movies that could be expanded upon to add additional houses.

Very interesting ...

That sounds like an awesome idea!!!! I'm crossing my fingers for this one. Plus, I'd really like to see The Thing house too. I read an article about it on HHN Vault and it sounded so cool I rented the movie. If only they could make scary movies like that nowadays.

Yea, that movie is one of my favorites, but surprisingly, I don't own it on dvd. I'll have to buy it someday! I believe that its based upon the writings of HP Lovecraft, a 1900s turn of the century writer. I've read almost all of his short stories. They usually deal with some amorphous, cross-dimensional, multi-tenactled horror breaking through the dimensional wall to threaten the sanity and lives of humans. Some people might not like his writing, but I did.

John Carpenters 'The Thing' is a remake of the 1951 film 'The Thing From Another World' which was in turn adapted from the novella 'Who Goes There?' by John W. Campbell Jr.

Both are brilliant films and The Thing house was one of my faves from 2007.

:)

The Thing: Assimilation was very well designed, especially considering the location and how bad the tent houses were the year before.

Of course the tent houses suck line definitely hold no water after 2008's houses.
