saving $$ on drinks

Its been a long time since i've been to disney....so my question is: is it possible to lock up the cooler with a bicycle lock to a pole or railing for each ride in the stroller area? this would prevent theft and i could even put a lock to keep the compartment itself from getting into..what do you think now and i figure it is a good idea, so we dont have to carry everything(drinks, food, snacks) onto every ride with us.... we may have a stroller as well, but it would be a small one (umbrella type), so it would basically have no storage....any better ideas besides buying drinks and food along the way (not an option). i suppose i could rent a locker to put a cooler for our lunch and just tote the drinks around in a small cooler. is it a pain to get back to the lockers when you feel like eating lunch...i would much rather have it when i want it....but please , if there is a real good reason why i shouldn't do my cooler thing, please let me know....like i said , its been a long time and i just dont know what to expect...thanks:earsgirl:

When we used to travel with our 3 children buying Diet Coke etc for 5 was expensive. We used to buy 2 or 3 between us with NO ICE. The drink was cold anyway from the machine and with no ice you got a full cup of drink. We would then pour it into our smaller cups/bottles, everyone got their own drink and we saved money. Disney makes money from filling the cup with ice as you only get a half a cup of drink.

Brita makes a water bottle that has a filter built into it.... it is under the cap, so when you drink, it is being filtered.:drinking:...we have 2 and are taking them....want to fill at water fountains/restroom sinks and they are great....no bad tasting water. you can find them at retailers where they sell Brita. (usually in hardware dept) most find them at walmarts and targets and bed, bath & beyonds......

What worked best for us a couple weeks ago in the extreme heat, was to make sure we did meals in sit-down airconditioned restaurants instead of at the outdoor counter-ones. That way for $2.00 everyone could have unlimited refills and get properly hydrated. That would hold us off for awhile. If we wanted something in between, like when we were at Universal, go to a place like Finnegans, sit at the bar and order drinks and get refills. Or we'd stop at a restaurant for drinks and an appetizer. But always we got out of the heat to do it.

I just pay the 2.50 for the water there, Dasani is not bad.:o

The problem with buying the water in the park is that the bottles are HUGE! I hate carrying those things around. I wish they would get some smaller size ones.

The do sell smaller bottles of water. We didn't buy them, but I would say that they were 10 or 12 oz and were around $1.50.

We bought a large coke - no ice, and then I'd go and ask for a glass of ice, and I poured DD a cup of coke from our one large. That way she wasnt anxious that she wouldnt get any pop, and not eat any food.

Water, I brought a nalgene bottle we take hiking, and filled it with the free cups of ice all day.

At our grocery stop I bought one large gallon of water, so in the hotel we would have water for vitamins, and fill that nalgene... one gallon lasted the week - remember the ice!
