Saving footsteps at the airport

I’m not familiar with the exact layout of MCO/OIA (yes, I've looked at the maps but...). We’re staying at the airport Hyatt for two nights. After we arrive, would it be quicker/easier to:

Go to National, get our car and drive to an entrance more convenient to the hotel?

Or:

Walk to the hotel, check in and get the family settled in the room and I go back to National to get the car?

Thanks.

The hotel is just after you exit the sterile areas, so generally speaking it's more convenient to check on the hotel first. But this assumes that you either don't have checked baggage to pick up or you're comfortable leave it circling the belt a while during the hotel check-in process.

I'm not sure where the curbside entrance to the hotel is...

Unless you'll be using the car that night, it probably going to make more sense to just pick up the car after you check out. If you rent it immediately, you're going to have to exit the rental car pickup area and drive back around to the parking garage - where, unless there's some special arrangement with the Hyatt, you'll have to pay by the hour to park.

The Hyatt hotel is located inside the airport right outside of the security gate. So I would not start my rental car reservation until the next day. Way pay for a car if you don't need to drive any where.

I would check-in and ask at the front desk. There is an vehicle entrance to the Hyatt, I think it's on the A side but that is probably valet. They may have a dedicated self park in the garage.

Since the OP is staying at the Hyatt for 2 nights, I would assume he/she isn't staying in the hotel that entire time without going anywhere, hence the need for the car rental...

The charge for self parking at the Hyatt is $12. We only stayed at the Hyatt after a late night arrival into Orlando for one night. I opted to pick up the car in the morning, so I wouldn't have to pay the parking. Hyatt does have a dedicated parking area, and there are signs indicating where it is in the airport.
I sent DH to get the luggage while I checked in at the Hyatt.
Hyatt will also claim your luggage for you.
