Saved $300 on my heating bill!

Yesterday morning I was chatting with a neighbor while waiting to put the kids on the bus. He was complaining that he had just received his gas bill and it was over $600! He was asking me about some insulation I had installed last year.

Anyway, after the kids got on the bus I went inside and got on my computer. There in my email box was my gas bil....the amount was $340!

The neighbor's house is comparable to mine (minus all the insulation/air sealing work I had done) but they run their heat at 68 all day. I've been lowering during the day to 59 while I work in the office upstairs with the door closed (it's about 68 in there). When we're all home and awake, it gets bumped up to about 63. I've also been drying clothes on a drying rack 95% of the time instead of using the gas dryer. I also just recently switched gas suppliers and that saved me over $40 this month.

I was just relieved that all this work actually paid off!

That's great, ours has dropped approx $100 because we had an over 30 year old system replaced last year (unit and ducts) and we are even heating a larger portion of the house than we were before the replacement. I guess if we added some insulation, it would drop even more
