I've been cleaning and decluttering today, and between the laundry and finding coins in tote bags, under cushions, etc, I found $11.23 so that's a good addition to my savings jar!

Since I get paid every two weeks I am going to put $14 in two times a month just to be sure I don't spend any of it LOL

This is an excellent way to save. Not a bad idea to get the kids involved. Maybe have them put in fifty cents a day.
Until last week I did not know just how much spare change we had been puttin in our savings jar and it was $253.00 since June of last year. And its just the two of us in our house. I keep the jar in the bedroom and DH puts his coins in every morning when he gets dressed. As for me when the purse starts getting heavy I know its time to dump the coins.

we do this at my house! Just started Jan. 5th. AND, we added too it. When I clean my house any money found in the couch, on the floor (nickles, pennies, dimes or what ever) ALL of it goes into my jar. One day after we had company, I found $4 of change scattered about (couch cushions, chairs and next to the guest bed) and 2 $1 bills! I was excited that day...

Consider the opposite of this suggestion:

How quick are you to pop a $1 into a soda machine? To buy a lottery ticket? To choose a bottled water instead of free tap water? To keep that Redbox rental movie one more night.

Keep spending just that one little dollar a day, and by the end of the year you'll have wasted $275 on a trivial item that means nothing to you in the long run. Makes it sound like real money and makes it harder to spend, doesn't it?
