The Durkee family (Bruce Durkee invented Fluff) lived in my hometown and I actually went to school with their children. It’s mainly an east coast thing and I still eat Fluffernuters!!
@The Mayor Where are you from? I grew up and lived in Peabody for 30 years, but hung out in Lynn while I was in high school!

Fluff is made in Lynn, MA, about 12 miles north of Boston. They've been there for over 100 years. Fluff was a staple at my house growing up, and no, other makers' "marshmallow creme" is not the same. They used to make a raspberry fluff that was divine spread on chocolate ice box cookies, but they don't make it anymore... just regular and strawberry (I am not a fan of the strawberry).

For the New Englanders on this board, let me put a little worm in your ear!
Oh you need fluff, fluff, fluff, to make a fluffernutter,
Marshmallow fluff and lots of peanut butter.
First you spread, spread, spread, your bread with peanut butter,
Add marshmallow fluff and have a fluffernutter.
When you enjoy, joy, joy, your fluff and peanut butter,
You're glad you have enough for another fluffernutter!"

I’ve known about them my whole life. I’m in New York (NYC suburbs), not New England, so maybe it’s the whole northeast? Had no idea it was regional until reading it here. My best friend in grade school ate a fluffernutter every day, sitting across from me in the school cafeteria. As for myself, I don’t care for them, as I’ve never been a fan of anything marshmallow. However, I do buy a jar of Fluff once a year to make fudge for Christmas from an old family recipe.

Also from NY, so New England adjacent. And I too, remember the commercials to make fluffernutters. So, maybe it's a whole north east thing.

I never had one though. Although I chased down a friend who had made the most wonderful homemade fudge. (We all were raving over it at the party.) She finally admitted it was the No-Fail fudge recipe on the back of the Marshmallow Fluff jars.So. I've had Fluff (well disguised.)

But, it's the whole texture thing that icks me out. It's sticky peanut butter covered in even stickier Fluff on white bread. :scared: Eww! I don't think I'd be able swallow all that stickiness. One of the reasons why PB and JELLY works, is that the wet jelly consistency of the jelly offsets the sticky peanut butter and white bread.

I grew up I’m Marblehead (Birthplace of the American Navy and home of the original Spirit of 76 painting) but I don’t live there now. The Durkee family was also from Marblehead. There is only one Fluff and all others are poor imitations🤣. I remember the raspberry fluff but wasn’t a fan!!
