@The Mayor Where are you from? I grew up and lived in Peabody for 30 years, but hung out in Lynn while I was in high school! The Durkee family (Bruce Durkee invented Fluff) lived in my hometown and I actually went to school with their children. It’s mainly an east coast thing and I still eat Fluffernuters!!
Fluff is made in Lynn, MA, about 12 miles north of Boston. They've been there for over 100 years. Fluff was a staple at my house growing up, and no, other makers' "marshmallow creme" is not the same. They used to make a raspberry fluff that was divine spread on chocolate ice box cookies, but they don't make it anymore... just regular and strawberry (I am not a fan of the strawberry).
For the New Englanders on this board, let me put a little worm in your ear!
Oh you need fluff, fluff, fluff, to make a fluffernutter,
Marshmallow fluff and lots of peanut butter.
First you spread, spread, spread, your bread with peanut butter,
Add marshmallow fluff and have a fluffernutter.
When you enjoy, joy, joy, your fluff and peanut butter,
You're glad you have enough for another fluffernutter!"
) She finally admitted it was the No-Fail fudge recipe on the back of the Marshmallow Fluff jars.So. I've had Fluff (well disguised.)
Eww! I don't think I'd be able swallow all that stickiness. One of the reasons why PB and JELLY works, is that the wet jelly consistency of the jelly offsets the sticky peanut butter and white bread.
