On my upcoming trip my friend really wants to go here when we are at AK, but as a picky eater I have some reservations about it. Can you customize the cheeseburger pods to exclude certain things inside of it (like pickles or the mustard) or do they come pre-made already? And also, is the potato base or anything else here spicy at all? I definitely don't do spicy foods.

I don't think you can customize the pods. I don't particularly like pickles or mustard, but these were pretty tasty. I just had the potato base and don't recall it being spicy at all. You can choose to have your sauce on the side as well.

My husband had the potato base with his lunch and it wasn't remotely spicy. I think the chimichurri sauce may have some spice to it since it's usually made with red pepper flakes, but I avoided it for that reason and didn't try it myself. Of the other things we had here, nothing had any heat at all (beef, chicken, creamy herb sauce, or kale salad). Everything was delicious, so I'd definitely recommend it if you see something on the menu that would work for you.

The beef bowl looks pretty good so I think I will end up giving it a try with the potatoes, thanks!

The potato base is definitely a "safe" bet. The creamy ranch sauce is also probably the safest route when it comes to the sauce -- tastes like ranch for the most part. We tried the fish, beef, and chicken and the chicken was the "blandest" of the three -- not bad at all, but definitely had the least "flavor" added to it. The beef was delicious, though...tender and nicely flavored. Not spicy at all.

Also,if you're not in the mood for potatoes, don't be afraid by the quinoa/lettuce base. It's mostly salad with a little bit of quinoa thrown in. Frankly, if you've never had quinoa before it's a nice introduction to it because the veggies are definitely the bulk of the base.

Don't be afraid of the bowls...

Tell me about the sauces please! Is the chimichurri heavy onion flavor? What’s the black bean like? Bummed to hear the herb one is basically ranch. I’m not a fan of ranch.

Loved the cheeseburger pods!!! I did taste the pickles, thought I was crazy! :)

I'm so glad I saw this because I just thought of a question and it fits exactly with this thread. I really want to try the cheeseburger pods, but as someone mentioned I am also picky and I normally only have cheese on my burgers. Does anyone know for sure if they can be modified at all? I'm kind of thinking they are pre-made, but didn't know if anyone has tried modifying them.

I didn't think the chimichurri had a heavy onion flavor. DH had both chimichurri and black bean on the side and he preferred the black bean. I would suggest getting them on the side and trying. My chimichurri wasn't mixed in, just poured over the top.

I had the rice and grain base with steak and chimichurri sauce. As posted by @ccbloom, the sauce does not have a pronounced onion flavor. It tastes like your average chimichurri, which IMO is delicious. The steak was quite good too. Smoky, tender and tasty.

We got a child’s order of the cheeseburger pods and I thought those were very good too. Everything (meat, cheese, pickles, onion, mustard, ketchup) is mixed inside the bun. I have read comments about the bun being too doughy and bland, but I really liked it. It had good texture and went well with the interior.

chimichurri is not normally made with onion.

On the kids menu the bowl meals dont come with a sauce (i assume its because they are Mickey check meals). Does anyone know if you can get an extra sauce on the side?

Do they charge for an extra sauce? I might have to try both of them regardless of whether they charge or not.

I actually asked last minute as the server was putting everything on our tray, so there was no charge. It wasn't intentional at all. But if they did charge, I can't imagine it would be more than $1 since the meals are about $10.

The cheeseburger pods seemed to be pre-made, and there is a mustard-y flavor to the mix inside. They are fun but they aren't really like eating an actual cheeseburger portion or even really flavor-wise, more like a Asian-style bun.

Not being picky in the slightest, I loved this place but my friend who is somewhat picky wasn't super impressed. Not sure it's because she split a bowl with our other friend and didn't choose all of her options (they did chicken, potato, ranch) or there were elements that threw her off (the veggie slaw that sits on top is delicious but if you don't like slaw, it may throw you). She also doesn't love mustard, so the pods weren't a fave.

The chimichurri was really tasty but not overwhelming in any particular ingredient area. Basically a nice addition to the beef.

I agree with the person above who mentioned not to be "afraid" of the kale & quinoa base. I had that with the beef and it was delicious! I'm not sure if the rice base is seasoned or not but if it isn't, that may be a good bet for someone unsure of the other options as well.

The only two foods I truly despise are peas and mustard so I guess the cheeseburger pods are out for me. So sad because I really wanted to try them!

Maybe try the vegetable curry pods?

I had a friend ask because like me she keeps about 90% kosher and was told they could not take the cheese out of the pods. So take that for what its worth it sounds like they are premade and unchangeable.
