So I'm taking my SATs for the first go-around tomorrow. Have you taken yours yet? If so, how many times? What did you score? How did you think you would (or will for those who haven't taken it yet) score? Goal score? What did you do to prep? How were your individual sections?

You don't need to necessarily stick to the questions as a survey but rather just discuss.

So, discuss.

Good luck tomorrow! My advice to you is: remember to bring all the necessary things like extra pencils, calculator, snacks, ticket and ID. If you must bring a cell phone, turn it OFF once you sign-in. When I took the test last fall we were told if any cell phones were even SEEN it would result in a cancellation of your scores  .

As far as the actual test goes, just remember to not stress out. On the essay, think about/plan what you will write, but not too long, you only have 25 minutes! Also, the questions about the passages will always go in order of how they occured in the story.

I took the SAT in June of 2007 as a Junior. I got an 1800/2400 (560 CR, 610 M, 630 W) I was pretty happy with my scores, but when school started my guidance counselor urged me to retake. I didn't want to because I was content and my scores were well in the range of my schools, but I did anyways. I ended up dropping in math & writing and ended up with like a 1670 or something ridiculous.
I did not really study or prep either time. But I don't think I'd highly recommend hard-core studying like weeks in advance. Maybe some vocab, and review of algebraic concepts or whatever. They give you geometry formulas so don't waste your time studying those.

Also, if you can, try to remember the order in which the sections went. It always starts with Essay, but if you can remember the 9? sections after that it's helpful because one section will not count. There are like 3 different sets of test, so the random section is different.. If you go on College Board next week it will say something like one section will not count towards your score.

Sorry that was really long! Go to bed early, get a good night's sleep, eat breakfast and remember all your things in the morning and just try your best! :thumbsup2

I took it twice and I did worse the second time by 10 points. But I still did well. I bought a Princeton Review SAT Prep book, but it didn't help. I actually did worse after that because I was thinking too much instead of focusing on answering the questions.

GOOD LUCK!!

I haven't took the actual SAT yet, but I did take a practice one. I got a 1240 on it. I am 16 years old and a sophmore in high school, so I thought I did a okay job with it.

GOOD LUCK!!!!

I'm taking them again tomorrow.

I did well last time but I need to do a little better for Vanderbilt...

Umm. Hopefully my score will go up...it should. I studied up on writing and stuff so hopefully ^_^.

I was supposed to take it tomorrow, I signed up and everything, except I could never get anyone to cover for me in Drivers Ed tomorrow...

I needed to switch cars with someone - SOOO I'll have to take it in May.

To be honest, I wasn't ready to take it, so I'm glad it worked out that way.

You'll be fine, just relax, and always know you can take it agian.

I was supposed to be taking them an hour from now, but we're in the middle of a massive snow storm so they were postponed for two weeks.

I took an SAT prep class in math because that's my weakest area and it helped me a bunch because Mr. Allen (my teacher) taught us all sorts of neat shortcuts on calculators that cut down the amount of work you have to do and the amount of time it takes you to do a problem.

The problems always go from easier to hard (in math, at least, not so sure about the other sections), so make sure to get the first 6 or so in a section right!

One section of your test is experimental and will not be counted towards or against your score. It is simply the College Board testing out problems to see if they should be used next year.

I took the PSAT in October and scored a 186/240 (projected SAT score is a 1860/2400). My goal score is 2100, but more realistically, I'd like to score at least 1900/2000. I'm a junior and I'm 16.

Experimental! That's the word I was looking for

I took it today too. I had to be there at 7:45 at the latest! I have had a long day! Saturday is my day to sleep in a little bit ,but I did not get a chance to do so this morning! Oh well! At least it was for a good cause!
