Sassagoula Floatworks & Food Factory vs Riverside Mill

We have stayed at PO Riverside and like the Riverside Mill for the Food Court. This trip thinking of staying at French Quarters. Wondering how's the Food Court there? Is it about the same? Would I miss anything?

We always stay at the French Quarter, but if are getting dinner at the hotel, we always walk to Riverside. We have found the selections much better at Riverside and there is space for seating. Breakfast is pretty much the same, but we no longer even consider dinner at the French Quarter. We have also had some service issues at French Quarter which were frustrating which we have never encountered at Riverside. We went to get a make your own salad and the section was open and set up and the lady told us to get a pre-packaged one out of the refrigeration unit. Just our opinion and past experience. Most of the staff at POFQ is very friendly and helpful and we LOVE the French Quarter, but we have run into a few "no so happy" cafeteria servers at POFQ that have made it a bit awkward. Got a waffle once and the lady complained to me the whole time that she didn't know how to make waffles and told the manager that before she was placed in that section.
We also like the sandwiches at POR which we could not live without - the blue cheese with roast beef, tuna and turkey sandwich section. mmm!

One more thing - we were just there a few weeks ago, and the make your own pasta option at Riverside looked pretty great. We already had our food, but I noticed the pasta people were getting and have already added that to the list for our next trip. It is about a 10 minute walk to Riverside from the French Quarter, and it is a nice walk or you can take the boat if it isn't too crowded, if they are running. We encountered that the boats weren't running sometimes last trip because of the wind. There was a storm expected later that day, but it wasn't windy at the time, so we thought the guy was joking at first. But the boats to Downtown are also great options to more dining choices if you want to venture out more.

I love both hotels but POFQ is where I want to stay now. Riverside is so large that no matter where you go, you are in for a hike. It's really beautiful but if you want a drink or snack before bed it's not very convenient. POFQ is much more compact and also really charming.

I think the food courts at both are good enough but Riverside is much better for some things. POFQ is smaller but I was always able to find something and if not it is really easy to get to Riverside. I agree I have encountered more distant and rude CM at POFQ but I think it depends on the day.

For me I would choose POFQ for the convenience especially knowing I could easily walk to Riverside and have the best of both worlds.

Does the French Quarter Food Court have Microwave and Toaster for guest to use, like the Riverside Food Court?

We like to microwave popcorn.

I like the food at Riverside Mill better (make it yourself pasta or salad were both really good). Sassagoula Floatworks has beignets, which my family really liked.

Yes they have toasters and a microwaves right on the same counter as the drink station in POFQ and I forget the location of the toaster &microwave but they have one in Riverside also.

While we love POFQ, I have to agree with pp about POR having a better food court. The make your own pasta at Riverside was really yummy and portions were plentiful. I also felt POFQ food court area had some cleanliness issues. Maybe they were understaffed, but we often found dirty and uncleared tables sitting for long periods of time. That kind of bugged me, although I also don't get why guests can't empty their own trays into the garbage.
