They could actually cut the room rates way back and still make money on them. Room rates are based largely on supply and demand. Most of the cost of running a resort are fixed costs...costs Disney the same amount of money whether 1 or 100 rooms are rented. They just have to cover the cost associated to the room itself when it's rented like the labor for mousekeeping and the electricity and more busses...stuff like that. So even if they break-even on the room rental they make money on all the tickets, food and souvenirs that you buy. It's better to make less profit then no profit at all.
That concludes my Tourism Economics 101 class for today.
Ah-ha! That makes sense. But I don't know if my calculator can handle calculations of another discount! My husband is begging me not to change the dates, but I can change anything else if need be. Poor soul.

Thanks, Prof. Heidi!
Seriously, I can't believe all this talk of another discount! My goodness. Whatever will we crazed DISers do?![]()
I plan on having another trip to get all in a tizzy over! Hopefully there are some ridiculously good bouncebacks while I'm there for Food & Wine...
