Sarilas' O-fficial Pre-Trip Report (a.k.a. Vacation, Take TWO!) - Jan. 30-Feb. 8, '09

It is going to be fantastic! :thumbsup2

We're decorating up a storm, AND I went to vote this morning! Woohoo! I can officially complain all I want to about the candidates now! My polling booth guy told me so! :rotfl:

DO IT!!!

Ugh.

Sorry.

I know.

I'm an enabler.

DO IT ANYWAY.

WANT TO, really do! I'm crossing my fingers for an AP discount before we go... It could happen!

I can't WAIT to see pics of the party---say Happy Birthday to Tatiana for me!!! What a great birthday--I remember my 10th birthday---what a fun milestone!

She says thank you! She's so excited to have a houseful of people wishing her a happy birthday... :lmao:

The party was a BLAST! We had people here till 2:30 in the morning when my DH finally had to kick 'em out. :rotfl: The costumes were great... We had everything from a Mexican wrestler to Popeye to Captain Jack Sparrow. LOTS of fun was had.

Good friends, good times. Pictures were taken but as you might guess I'm just a LITTLE slow this morning!

Check this out though! I have news on a potential trip for next year!!

DH and I were last minute shopping on Saturday morning, and I was filling him in on the Food & Wine TR's I've been reading here on the DIS. Now, DH LOVES unusual food, food from different countries, etc. Very adventurous palate and willing to try everything (except potatoes! :lmao: ) once. I told him what a blast it would be to go to WDW again next year during F&W- we could celebrate our anniversary (which is actually in November, but it's our fifth next year!), go to one of MNSSHP's and get to enjoy Halloween at WDW all in one trip. He LOVED the idea! So now I need to figure out details!

Does any one know when the dates for MNSSHP are set? And is F&W at the same time every year? I doubt this will be another long trip like the one we're taking in January- maybe only 4 or 5 days so I want to be sure there would be a MNSSHP overlapping our visit to F&W.

Am I babbling? I can't feel my brain! :lmao:

How exciting is that!! I think if you went anytime in October you could catch both. I think I bought my MNSSHP tickets in May last year. If you go on allears they have histories of the dates and they might on wdwinfo as well.

Oh I hope you're right! I don't want to stress on F&W and MNSSHP overlapping, but I WANT BOTH! :rotfl:

I know that wdwinfo has past dates on their website for sure. I am using their calenders to plot December 2009 park hours by looking at 2007 and 2008. :rolleyes1

Can't wait to see all the pictures from the party.

I think I already saw the dates somewhere for Food and Wine. I will see if I can track them down again. You shouldn't have any problems with getting overlapping dates if you go in October -- seems like MNSSHP dates were released in April or May this year.

SO excited about the possibility of next year's trip---would it just be the two of you?????? How romantic!!!!

Can't wait to hear about the party!!!! Get some rest though sweetie--you deserve it!

How exciting!

As CP posted, I don't think you'll have any trouble overlapping with MNSSHP. And if you do go then, I highly recommend you go to one. For details, see my upcoming chapters. It's SO much fun and right up your alley.

I know they run them pretty consistently in September, and even more dates in October as it gets closer to Halloween. Actually, now that I think about it, I think I have a picture of the sign in my trip report. I'll have to take a look for you. :thumbsup2

I found the dates for 2009 for Food and Wine: September 25 -- November 8.

Thank YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!

I've still got to upload the pics... I, being the instant gratification gal that I am, decided to move furniture yesterday while recovering from our 2:30 am bedtime. I'm SO TIRED now! :rotfl:

I'm totally going to try plotting my plan with those past dates.

How exciting!

I WISH! No, there's no one I could leave the four kids with. My mother is gone and my father's disabled and can't care for the littlest ones, so it's group trips or nothing, and nothing is unacceptable! ;)

75 DAYS TILL DISNEY!

It's so silly... but 75 makes me think of 3 quarters which makes me think of 3 sets of 25 which makes it feel REALLY CLOSE.

Have I mentioned I'm ADD?! :rotfl:

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I love your explanation of 75! And trust me, now that we're heading into the holiday season, the time until your trip is just going to FLY by! :thumbsup2

I can't wait to see pics from your Halloween party, it sounds like so much fun. :goodvibes

Now that Halloween is practically on our doorstep, I've got FIVE holidays to get through, which seems like forever. Our anniversary is Nov. 23, then Thanksgiving, then Christmas, then New Years and then we have Three Kings Day on January 6th! THEN we leave for Disney on the 10th... busy, busy, busy!

And I'm so lazy... I haven't even uploaded our party pics yet! (I didn't get as many as I thought I would either, but a girlfriend of mine took tons, if I can get them from her in a decent time frame.)

But I'll post what I can! ;)

What is Three Kings Day? How can there be a holiday I haven't heard of?

LOL! Three Kings Day is a holiday that's mostly just celebrated in Latino cultures; in our case it's a HUGE deal, because where my DH comes from (Puerto Rico) it's literally bigger than Christmas.

Here's a blurb about it, but essentially it's celebrating the three kings search for the christ child. It follows the old orthodox calendar which would have placed Christmas on our date of January 6). Kids collect grass, put it in a box under their beds and that night the three kings stop at homes to freshen their horses (yeah, it's Puerto Rico, they have horses not camels!). Because the children are so kind as to have grasses waiting, the kings reward them with gifts. When I was little my Mom (who was Russian Orthodox) celebrated Christmas on January 6th too, so it's totally in line with my childhood as well.

So yes, our kids get two Christmases. :rotfl:

Okay, pics from our Halloween party!

I'm still hoping to get some pics from my friend Mandy who actually TOOK pics this night- I stopped as all the guests started arriving, then started again during apple bobbing and then stopped again!

Nonetheless... here are a few from that night. :)
