So normally if we have to stay @ SS we stay in Congress Park due to the ease of the walkway to DD. Now with that closed do you guys have any recommendations for other room locations in SS?
We like the paddock because of the pool and waterslide right next to the buildingand we were in

I prefer the springs because of the proximity to the restaurants
and my morning coffee
We love the Grandstand, short walk to the boat at Springs, Artist Palette, and Turf Club. Has it's own themed pool, water play area, and pool bar.

Jumping on. DH and I just booked SSR for an adult-only golf-bar heavy 3-nights in April. It'll be our 1st trip "home". We just left OKW and he loved it and wanted me to book SSR for April instead of trying for BWV. His specific hope was for the walk to DTD but the boat is just as convenient I guess, especially since it docks at Westside.
So I'm thinking Grandstand for proximity to pool bar and boat to DTD. Thinking that will be late night transfer as we hope to do JellyRolls one night.
Disney is redoing DTD...so need the walkway to be empty. So, it will be closed. There is an alternative walkway, over behind the boat dock..actually to the right. It is a bit longer and drops you off by Cirque. As a side question to the OP's post----the walkway to DTD is closed?? Does anyone know how long it will be closed for (or why)?
We recently stayed at SSR and asked for a DTD view Congress Park room, but the only room available was in the Paddock. We took it because we really wanted to just get into our room after traveling. I decided this was actually a great location! The Paddock has an awesome pool/pool bar and great proximity to the bridge to the restaurant/main pool etc.
Also, I'm pretty sure we weren't supposed to do this, but one night we were walking back from DTD and didn't know where the walkway to SSR was. If you keep walking about 20 more feet, you get to the driveway to SSR that the buses go in and out of. We would just walk in/out of there every time we went to DTD. Again, I don't think it's sanctioned by Disney Bc there weren't any sidewalks, but it did lead right to the Paddock....just an idea in case the walkway is closed for some reason.
