Booked via AAA Travel (i.e. CAA in Canada). Family of Five. Requested The Springs (Non-Smoking).

I learned from Disboards that there are two types of Two Bedrooms: A Dedicated Two Bedroom Villa and A Lock-Off Two Bedroom Villa. I hope to request a "dedicated", since I need two beds in the 2nd room.

I called Disney (CRO), the CM told me that DVC owners always have priority in selecting a room, but I can still put down "dedicated 2-bedroom" as a request. She can't do it for me since I am booked via AAA Travel, and she cannot see my reservation.

After explaining to my TA (AAA), I finally gave up. She refused to put in the request, kept telling me that a Two Bedroom ALWAYS includes a King-Sized Bed in 1st Room, and two Queen bed in 2nd Room. :lmao:

Anyway, I will try my best to request upon check-in. But in case I am getting a lock-off villa, I have a few questions:

1). If I am not mistaken, Lock-off is a studio connecting to a one bedroom. Will we get two room numbers, or they will assign one room number?
2). How should we tip mousekeeping if we are getting a lock-off? We stayed in 2 connecting rooms in POFQ before, and noticed that the two rooms have different mousekeeper (probably odd & even room number). Just don't want mousekeeper A gets the tip, but B doesn't. Shall we lock the door between the two rooms while we are out?
3). How does mousekeeping work in SSR? Same as other WDW resorts? Do they change bedsheet everyday, refill/replace shampoo/soap, and empty trash in everyroom?
4). If my wife is cooking some food for DD3, should we do the dish-washing ourselves, or leave them for mousekeeping?

Thanks!

Yes, a lock off is a one bed room and a studio. They do have 2 room numbers, but your "offical" room number will the the one for the one bedroom.

I put the tip for both on the bed in the master bedroom.

There's no need to lock the door between the 2 rooms.

If you were a DVC member, housekeeping is different, but since you have a reservation thru Disney via AAA, you will have daily housekeeping like in in hotel.

I always do my own dishes, but have been known to leave the dishwasher full and running as we head out the last day.

Same info as last poster, but one morning we were running late and left dishes in the sink, mousekeeping loaded and ran the dishwasher. Made me very happy :lovestruc, but we did not make a habit out of it. She did straighten our counter each day and made it a lot neater. Have a great vacation we will be staying at the VWL on our next trip, but enjoy SSR. I just want to try them all out.

Your agent might be right actually in most all cases at SSR. Nonmember booking from CRO are almost always given a dedicated 2 bedroom instead of lock off. In fact it would be much harder for you to get a lock off booking with CRO then the dedicated.

The only time a cash paying guest through CRO would get a lock off, is if there were no dedicateds to give you.

I don't think you will have to worry about it.

I think sheets only get changed every 3 days or so in all Disney resorts.

You'll love it, it's a beautiful resort. We stayed there for the first time in July for our non-Disney theme park trip and it was wonderful even though it rained almost everyday. I love the activities they have for the kids, it's a great place to hang out especially after your chased away from the pool when the storms come through. We actually went to Seaworld for a few days that trip and it was a very convenient location (about 10 min away if that).

You can't get anymore spoiled with mousekeeping as cash guest. It's so wonderful to have clean dishes when you return later in the day after rushing out in the mornings. (I did tip a little extra because of that)..one of our mousekeepers was really into bows one day, she did all of the towels in bows, very cute (that extra special touch).

If you want to get all kinds of info on SSR, check the DVC Planning thread as this gave us a lot of tips prior to our trip. We were very lucky because we booked a studio and ended up with a 1-bedroom. We were in CP and had an awesome view of DTD. The Springs is a good location though since it's so close to the main areas. I do have a link to my photos from our trip below (some of the "bow" photos are there)..ENJOY, you'll love it!! We hope to return there again someday! :thumbsup2

We stayed @ SSR in The Springs this September and LOVED it. It is a beautiful resort. Our housekeeping was excellent all except for one night and we "made do". The pool is also close and is lovely. Transportation was excellent and luckily, the Springs has a bus stop right beside of it! The only downside to transportation is that The Springs in the last stop off at SSR. Enjoy yourself! :)

If you like having your sheets changed everyday, you can request that with housekeeping or just pull them off the bed and they will do it for you.

I think you'll probably get the dedicated too. Your TA is technically right, there are two queen beds in the other room, although one of them would be in the form of a sofa bed if you got a lock off, vs two regular beds in a dedicated. SSR is a wonderful resort, you will love it!

We just got back for the SSR and loved it as well! I wanted to mention if you are unable to get a room in the Springs section, consider requesting the Grandstand (right next to the other pool). It is a very brief walk to the main pool and Carriage House (check-in) as well as being the first bus stop for both pick up and drop off. Have a great trip!
Also mousekeeping was awesome. Every day we came back from the park, my kids stuffed animals were doing something different....reading books, watching TV, etc. My dd thought it was "magical"!!!!

If you get a lock off, the sleeper sofa is double sized, not queen sized.
