Hello everyone,

We will be attending the F&W festival again this year and due to a late commitment from our friends missed the 7 month window for BWV. We are booked into SSR (our first time away from "Home") and waitlisted for BWV but I am losing hope. I am wondering about bus service to Epcot from SSR. We always rent a car to go to other parks but will be drinking at the F&W fest and I don't want to drive. The BW bus service is terrible, is SSR better? Also I am a runner and always look forward to running around the boardwalk and to MGM. Is the path to downtown disney a decent length to get a reasonable run? Anyone have any particular tips I should know about this resort for a first timer? Thanks in advance!

Beth

HI there - my sis and I will be at SSR for the F&W as well. SSR has much better bus service than BW in my opinion. Also, there is a great path from SSR to OKW that will give you a great run, and you can take the boat back to SSR since it stops there before DTD. I'm waitlisted for SSR for Nov. 2, and confirmed for 3-7. Enjoy!

Thanks so much for the quick reply!I already feel better about staying there! I love being at the Boardwalk particularly for the festival, but I guess trying a new place will be good for us!

BWV or BCV are great for the food & wine fest. We stayed at BWV in Oct 06, and it was amazing. Getting to walk from EPCOT is huge. Like you guys, we always rent a car, and I know what you mean about not wanting to drive after going to the F&W Fest!!!

Good luck on your ressie coming through at BWV. I don't think the bus service is too bad - we have ridden them a few times, and seems like you get around pretty quick!

SSR busses are so much better than BW/BC busses. I was just so disappointed with the bus service and sharing when we stayed at BWV a couple of years ago. I will never stay there again without a car. SSR on the other hand I have stayed at a few times without a car and it was no problem. It doesn't share, it has several stops and they have always been prompt and reliable for us. And if you do have a car, the convenience of parking right outside your door is priceless.

We are staying there during F&W as well and like you will probably bus back one night since we plan to enjoy ourselves!

Be sure and take some pool time and enjoy a nice cocktail from the pool bar, we love SSR's pool area. No scary clown to creep me out!;)

depends on where you are staying within the resort, its fairly umm HUGE. I love running the path

I hope you enjoy your stay at SSR if your WL doesn't come through. I suggest requesting Grandstand area. It is the first bus stop of five so you'll get a seat, and it is the first to drop off as well. The path to DTD and OKW is located near Grandstand too. The DTD path goes to West Side. Just watch out for the sprinklers on the golf course - funny if you don''t mind surprises or getting a little wet! Another thing to note about buses and location of your room - if you're in Grandstand area and you see the bus leaving your stop, walk sort of quickly up to The Springs bus stop near the front entrance of the pool and you can still get the bus. It takes about 5-8 minutes for the bus to get to all the stops and Springs is LAST!

We loved SSR and it's our home resort. We were just missing the Buffalo Chicken Flatbreads last evening! It is a large resort and some people don't like it for that reason, but we felt very relaxed during our stay and we didn't mind seeing the parking lot now and then - mainly when we went to the bus stop.

BroganMc could probably chime in here to give you tons of info on the paths because she is a frequent guest (and a much loved one) at SSR!

when at OKW for food/wine the bus service was the best EVER.

so expecting SSR to be just as good.

DVC know that most members are there for EPcot - food/wine!

congratulations on getting anything during that time.

SSR is my home resort and when I visit with my best friend we love to stay there because she is a runner. She just loves all the running paths. You can run allover SSR and all the way to OKW and back not to mention over to DTD.
you could be gone for hours.

GREAT TIP
When your at Epcot and stay late for the Fire Works, watch them over
near Italy or USA area then when they finish don't hassle with the crowds to the front of the park but take a stroll over to the Beach Club or Board Walk and hop on a bus for DTD They run more often at night.
This is one of our favorite night time things to do.
The walk from DTD to SSR is pretty... especially along the water.
if you want to be close to DTD you can request Congress Park
have a great trip
