We have been to Disney many times but are staying at Saratoga springs for the first time this October. Any must Do's at SS?

Saratoga has one of the best spa facilities on property, if you like that sort of thing.

Take the time to check out community hall for kids activities, and don't miss the poolside movie.

It is a large resort and there are plenty of paths to walk within the resort. We like walking back towards the Treehouses, there is a lot of florida wildlife to see back there. Look along any of the waterways to spot a bald eagle.

We enjoy using all of the resorts pools, not just the one closest to our room. each offers a different experience.

We also love to golf, SSR contains LBV golf course, one of our favorite.

Have a great time.

Thank you for the great info. We'll certainly take your advice. Great photograph by the way with a lovely tale to go with it :)

bikes are available for a nominal fee and the resort is beautiful. DH and I usually rent bikes at least once or twice and just ride around the resort.

I don't know how we forgot the Turf Club. One of our favorite places to eat anywhere on property. Whether you eat inside or out on the patio, its one of the best "hidden" places to eat.

Enjoy.

One of our favorite things was to take the walkway over to DTD. Wolfgang Puck Express, Goofy's, World of Disney and the Lego store. My girls loved the main pool and water slide. They also liked watching a movie while they swam one night. We loved SSR and would go back in a heartbeat. We received a free upgrade from Pop last year during free dining and are now considering buying into DVC because of that stay.

SSR isn't really a "must do" kind of resort*. It's more of a laid back and relax place.

* Other than watch Stacy of course.

We love SSR. Whether you hang out @ community hall, or go to the Artist Pallete or play some tennis. It is a relaxing resort. It is great to go back to after a morning at the parks with small children. The pool is great and the rooms are great also.

We are skipping BWV and BCV for SSR this coming year. I'm really really very uneasy about it.....I was there once for a long weekend and found it too spread out and totally boring. No Disney "magic" and almost "motel" like. My fingers are crossed and my mantra will be to remain optimistic!!!

We have seen the accomodation so no worrys with that, however if its low on the 'Magic' we'll bring it with us (DS & DD!)

Enjoy the rocking chairs over in Congress Park along the waterfront with excellent views of DTD and the boat traffic. Very relaxing. And they're not far from the kid's playarea and quiet pool too - you could enjoy all three things.

Our grandson loved the community hall - we had trouble getting him to leave which was a surprise to us. We also liked the movie at night by the pool. There were many activities planned for kids in the grassy area on the other side of the pool.

Ok I have to share!:goodvibes

Last month we stayed at AKV and BCV for Spring Break. We went to SSR at least 3 times that trip!

My boys love the cupcakes at AP with the real buttercream frosting. BCV Marketplace had whipped topping and neither liked it. They begged to go to AP for the cupcakes!

They also love the CH, and it was a little too windy to play ping pong outside so we spent a few hours one evening for that too!

Our last day, we had a late flight and guess where they wanted to spend the afternoon?:rotfl:

I LOVE BCV but it was a little too chilly to spend much time by the pool or beach so we may book SSR for next year.

It is a large resort, but there is soooo much to do and enjoy and my 13 and 11 year old love it! Have since they were 5 and 7.

They also really enjoyed Kidani Village CH, but give SSR CH the edge because of its proximity to the pool area and food.

I think of SSR as more of a "Country Club" resort. It is really elegant and visually pleasing and I love the sounds of the fountains all over the resort:wizard:

It's so good to hear all these great things about SSR. We just passed ROFR on a SSR contract, so we can't wait to be able to book our first trip home.-

Hi! We're heading to SSR this October for our first stay there, too! Maybe we'll see ya. We are booked from the 9th to the 16th.

We're in the process of buying a SSR resale contract... this thread is getting morfe excited about adding on here! We own at BCV & BLT for the location, but the charm and relaxing atmosphere at SSR sounds alot like our favorire non-Disney vacation spot... Lake George, NY!(A short dive from Saratoga Springs)
I'm also looking forward to spending more time at DTD. I'm anxious to see what else comes to the former Pleasure Island. I still miss Adventurer's club! :(

Our home resort is SSR. Over the past several years we have stayed there about 8 times. We have also tried other resorts (out of curiosity) - DVC and non-DVC. Every resort has great features and wonderful things to do. However, in our opinion, we really love SSR. In fact, we have even visited SSR when we weren't staying there just to feel at home. Many people have commented about the "Disney feel" and we believe that the "feel" is just right. Everyone has their own opinion, but I do not regret buying into SSR at all.

I so totally agree with you. We do not regret buying into SSR at all. In fact, when we don't stay there, we truly miss it. Just love it there!
