Saratoga Springs Mug Question

We are heading for our first trip home to Saratoga Springs. We have stayed several times at BCV and noticed that they have drink mugs for sale with free refills for the length of your stay. Does Saratoga Springs offer this same option for drink mugs?

When we were there last year, they had generic DVC refillable mugs but they did not have SSR specific mugs yet. Does anyone know if they have these yet?

I have 2 mugs from Coronado Springs from a few years ago. Do you think i could use these at Saratoga. Will be going there on the 27th of Aug.

I believe the refillable mugs are only good for the resort and year in which they were purchased.

DUCK!!! RUN!!!! DONT STOP TO WAIT FOR AN ANSWER!!!!! This is one of the imfamous DIS explosion questions and has been debated over and over again.

The policy is that a mug is only good at the resort it was purchased at and only good for the length of THAT trip. Some people use them again and again, others find it to be rule breaking and unacceptable. You will have to choose for yourself. (Disney is fairly non-confrontational with its guests and you probably won't have anything said to you if you do reuse - but technically it is breaking the set policy).

In my opinion getting a mug at SSR isn't very convienient. Depending on where you are located, it could be quite a hike just to fill the mug.

Unless you are going to use the main pool a LOT on your stay. Its my understanding there is a fill station poolside. If you do a lot of swimming it would probably be a good value decision.

How cool would it be as a DVC member perk to have special mugs that you could use at any of the DVC resorts on any stay. I know, not a realistic idea....but boy would that be cool.

I haven't been to a DVC resort yet, so forgive my ignorance.

What types of drinks do they have for refilling the mugs? Any chance of unsweetened iced tea? Or is it just the standard drinks you would find in a fast food place?

My family and I have stayed at the Caribbean Beach Resort almost every year
since it opened (1988-2004) and have re-used the original mugs since the first year. The staff members there have even made comments that it's great to see people come back {they can tell because the mug design changed about eight years ago or so}. We were told long ago that they were
good for life and were never told otherwise. We also have mugs from Animal Kingdom Lodge, All Star Resorts, the Wilderness Lodge, and Pop Century.
We have re-used at the Animal Kingdom Lodge and All Star with no problem.
You're not supposed to use other resort mugs though. Usually you can get
soda, iced tea, water. Nearby is usually cofee, tea and hot chocolate.
For the price of the mug, it's really a bargain if you add up all the drinks
you ususally consume on vacation. I imagine that DVC resorts follow the same policy.

With SSR selling general DVC mugs, I wonder if they would be honored at other DVC resorts. Anyone else tried?

No I don't think this is the purpose of the mugs!!!! The last ones we bought state on the side of the mug, that they are only valid for the length of your stay. If you bring it back (after a few years) then this would be a violation of their intent. This is a privelege afforded to resort guests when they stay at a particular resort. I'll leave it at that before I get on a bandwagon because it it is so ABUSED!!!!!!!!!

OK now I have to go home "I'm working" and check my mug. I swear I got a SSR mug last October. I'm sure the policy is to get a new mug every visit but I use mine for the year I purchased it. Since we usually go twice a year technically I guess I'm cheating. Be nice if they woulod get stickers like they us at the water parks. I'm running out of places to put my mugs. Maybe put the month/year on a sticker so you can just purchase a new sticker each trip. Just a thought.
