3 artist renderings have been posted to the members' only website.

It's a 9.6 MB PDF file. In other words, it's a huge file! I assume that the thrid page had not yet finished downloading when you attempted to view it. Give it a little more time. The third page shows how two different different types of tower design and building siding give the same type of building a somewhat different look. By the way, if you have dial connection, you'll have to be very, very, very patient.

Did you see page 2, the rendering of the Feature Pool area? Isn't that a water slide on the right side of the picture??? A water slide? Didn't the Orlando Sentinel say there wouldn't be a water slide? Could the Orlando Sentinel be wrong? Or did the DVC Member site publish an rendering of a proposed pool configuration with a slide, but subsequently a decision was made to avoid having a slide? Or am I mistaken, and that's not really a slide (but it sure looks like one)?

Horace,

That really DOES look like a slide to me! However, "Artist's Rendering: not an as-built depiction" leaves the final design very much up to your imagination.

A few observations about the Member News article ("Latest from DVC... Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa!") and the artist renderings.
  • The article mentions nothing about 300 refurbished Disney Institute being part of the resort -- just "184 proposed Disney Vacation Club ownership accommodations in four 3- and 4-story residential-style buildings" replacing the old townhouses. It will be interesting to see what happens to the 316 old Bungalows, but becoming part of Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa does not seem to be the plan (at least based on this article).
  • The architecture gives the buildings an inviting look. The interpretation of the theme is very detailed. It should provide guests with a feeling that they've gone back in time by about a hundred years.
  • But the style is quite different from the Disney Institute main complex where the resort will have its town center, analogous to Turtle Krawl at OKW! This surprises me. Thomas Beeby's architecture at the Disney Institute is simplified; it emphasizes the classic shapes of the buildings, not layers of detail. The styles don't clash -- but they don't really match either. I can't imagine that they will add layers of detail to the work of a renowned architect. It will be interesting to see how these two pieces go together when the resort opens in Spring 2004.
  • Yes, that looks like a waterslide.

I too noticed that the other refurbished units were not mentioned. To me it's supports they are not going to be DVC units but more likely rentals. Still, we shall see.

These look beautiful! VERY classy IMHO.....BUT..... How are they going to keep day trippers from DD from taking over that great pool?

Looks beautiful...though as some of you have said, I don't know how that will fit with the existing structures.

That does look like a slide, and the pool looks like it might be interesting...notice the kiddie pool area towards the front of the drawing with the fountains in it?

Can't wait to see it for real! Oh, and on the pool issue....gates. It works at SAB.

I love the way this looks!Definitely looks like a slide. Can't wait for this one to go on sale.

I also get the blank 3rd page, trying all different browsers.
Again, the main thing is to be patient. If you try to view the third page before the download gets to the third page, the third page will be blank. Then, no matter how long you wait, the third page won't render. Exit and try again, waiting for the first page to render fully before going to the second page, and for the second page to render fully -- and then some -- before going to the third page.

Here's another idea. If you can download the PDF file to your drive, you can then double-click on the file icon to view the PDF file with the Acrobat application, rather than with the Acrobat plug-in within your browser. The problem is that DVC has made it hard to download the file by launching it from a window generated with Javascript rather than making it a direct link from the Member News page. For some reason, it was easy to download the PDF file on my Mac, but not on my PC. (But on my PC, once I had page 1 in the browser's Acrobat window, and then waited for the rest to finsoh downloading, I was able to click on the diskette icon at the top of the window and save the file to my drive.)

I see that some of you agree about the water slide on page 2.

Maybe they will have lots of three bedroom units incorporated into the resort at a resonable point value.

Can't get the third picture to work either.

Looks like a depiction of a slide to me. Certainly it should have a slide and maybe many other nice pool features, like zero entry.

...I download over a 512k cable connection. 9+meg files are nothing. I let it sit 10 minutes, still never got 3rd page....

As for the page 2 "slide".... it looks like it could also be a landscape water effect rather then a slide.

If you look at the four on property DVC resorts,BWV is the only location they actually built a slide at. I assumed all new properties would include a slide, but realistically that was a baseless assumption.

Third page came for me, thanks to my Mac. I can email the pdf as an attachment if anyone wants to try it that way but it might be tomorrow night before I can do much. The third picture is simply two additional versions of how the resort could look by changing the colors and style of the front entrance. The are placed side by side. Looking at the first picture, it shows the part that's all green and the building to the right with the 3 balconies one on top of the other.

One options shows the outside as all red brick with the taller tower looking like a gazebo. The second option shows the archway as red brick, the towers as yellow brick and the rest as an aqua siding with scale type shingles in the triangle. The taller tower there is flat and open with no windows. It's similar than in the other 2 pictures with no windows and a second landing with rails and no roof, a smaller structure than the other 2 options.

I can not download one stinking picture!

LOL! Me, either!

Glad I'm not the only one. I thought it might be because I'm still on a low-tech dial-up.
