Well, as you can see in my siggie, we're headed off to Dubai tomorrow! It will take us 3 days to get there, 2 on a train and 1 by air. Oh, joy...

The good news is we're headed to Wild Wadi- I think it's one of the largest water parks in the world!!! WOOOHOOO! The kids are way pumped.

But the bad news is, I"ll be "off" the boards for 2 weeks! I may get withdrawal tremors... so, I won't be able to hear how William is doing, and I"ll likely miss several installments on your trippie. But, I'll be thinking 'bout ya.

It was a lot shorter for us with no strollers, kids to stop for, etc. Kids are great, don't get me wrong! But it is fast with just adults!

Just updating real quick on William...

The cultures came back and he has Salmonella.

The treatment is...nothing. They can't really do anything to help him. They said it usually runs its course in 14 days. We are on day 8. Poor thing. They don't give antibiotics, because they say it makes it all worse instead of better. They will put him back in the hospital, though, if his potassium gets way out of whack again. So he is trying to drink more.

Just wanted to let you guys know!!!

You may have seen the update on William already...but we do have a diagnosis...which is comforting...except that they don't really treat that. It has to "run it's course"...

Gosh! I hope you can watch that video when you get a chance! My job is so awesome about that. They are totally fine with listening to podcasts, even...they consider it like listening to the radio...and in my job, they can tell if I am not getting my work done...so they are cool about that stuff. I even have a special headset that goes straight from the phone to listening to the computer at the touch of a button! I love it!!!

Thank you so much for remembering William! We appreciate it tremendously. He tried to eat tonight...and...uh...it wasn't such a good idea. So, he is definitely not better.

He actually has a very low immune system...almost low enough to get immune system medicine (IVIG)...but not quite that bad. But he could have a very hard time getting rid of this. Bless his heart.

He tried to eat last night...and it did not turn out so well...not such a good idea.

Buffet! Chinese! He loves the Chinese buffet. But we will wait a little while before we take him there...if he gets sick from it, it would be bad for him...because he loves that place!

Well, we are a little concerned about that. William has a very shabby immune system. He has had fever, but his white blood cell count is not elevated. Those white cells help fight infection and his are not out there fighting!

He already missed 2 days of school...this is spring break (crummy spring break!)...but they are not even sure he will be able to go back on Monday, either.

I wish we knew what he ate, too.

Salmonella's a rough one. I'm glad he's got a diagnosis and that it's not something chronic that he'll have to deal with forever, but, it's likely to be another rough week. (I agree with the worry that his own white blood cells aren't working hard enough...it could be another rough 2 weeks. Can they keep hydrating and semi-nourishing him with IVs at home?)

I wish...their insurance won't cover the home health. Which is stupid. I guess they would rather have the larger hospital expense, if he ends up back there for dehydration.

They are forcing gatorade on him...but he is still sick. One sick kid. And today was the last day of Spring Break. Poor guy.
