So, I'm 40 years old and this August me, my wife, and my 2 girls will be taken the grandmas and grandpas with us to WDW. Neither one could really afford to go so we are scrimping and saving what we can and using our DVC points to take them with us. It will also be my mothers 65 birthday while we are there. I don't know what the years will bring, but am scared this could be the last trip to WDW with all of us because I'm not sure when we'd get the money to bring everyone again.

My question is, as we are at Epcot and Illuminations begins, how the heck am I not supposed to sit there cry like a little baby when everyone I love is there with me? Jeesh, the song chokes me up when I listen to it in the car, how will I ever make it through the whole thing. I think the emotions will just overpower me and maybe I should just jump in the lake?

Any tips podcast crew?

Any tips from fellow Disers?

Just let the tears flow. Illuminations always reminds me of family members who are no longer with us. I call it having a misty moment.

Just savor the time you can spend with everyone.

That tapestry of dreams song makes me cry because of the memories it brings back for me and my family when my mom was alive. Let it flow!!

For me....It's the "We Go On" portion of Illuminations that gets me. I also have a soft spot for "We Go On" music as after Illuminations is over.

I'd suggest just being yourself so your family knows who you are and how you feel about the score and show. I bet your family will understand.

Just go ahead and cry, I do!! Last time I kinda swayed back and forth with my Mom and we both cried! lol Dorks I know, but what the heck!

We went to Disney on a Wish Trip...and we cried everywhere we went!

So excited for the moment for Lauren and her family. Peter Pan ride...It's a Small World...MNSSHP...Outdoor shows...In the rain at the electric parade...walking around GKTW (those were some BIG tears!)...

We didn't hardly see any of the nighttime shows...and we still cried constantly!

I guess maybe you get a "break" when you are on a Wish Trip...But I say...let em flow, my friend! :)

Besides, you will get WET if you jump in the lake! And probably a lot more stares! :rotfl2:

I agree with everyone, just go ahead and let it out and enjoy the memories you are creating.

I also say go ahead and cry!

I took a quick solo trip in Novemeber to do some Christmas shopping. I only had one night to spend in a park so I chose the MK since it was fully decorated for the holidays already. I had never seen the castle witht he Christmas icicle lights on so I made a point to pause my commando shopping attack and get a spot infrom of the castle for the show. At the point when the Fairy Godmother transforms the castle- the tears just started! It took me by surprise! The castle was so pretty- and I just wished my family was with me to see it! I just sat there with tears streaming down my cheeks!

Just let your tears flow, no problem on that. Just be your self, if you want to cry, just cry, that's you. Have a great time in your trip and enjoy.

Have a nice and safe trip coming.
