Santa Monica Activities? Anything up the Expo Line?

We're going to DL for several days the first week of October, and we're finishing our trip with two days in Santa Monica to relax a bit before the flight home out of LAX. Besides the pier, the shopping areas, and food, is there anything else particularly interesting to do in SM? Are there any good museums or sights convenient to the Expo line?

We're taking the train between Anaheim and SM and staying within a block or two of the pier. We won't have a car unless we call an Uber.

I believe you can go to the Natural History Museum and the Science Center, where the Endeavor Shuttle is located. Both museums are within walking distance of each other. The same area has the LA Coliseum and USC.

That's great! Science and Natural History museums are always a hit. I've seen one of the Shuttles in Alabama too, so it'll be neat to catch another one.

If construction is done and the Expo Line ends at 7th/Fig once again, you can take the Purple Line to check out LACMA (LA County Museum of Art). I think the La Brea Tar Pits are also nearby.
