We are surprising the kids with a trip to Disney the first week of December. Since we are spending so much on this trip, Christmas won’t be as big as usual. I want to have the elf on the shelf bring the kids a letter from Santa telling them about the trip but I don’t want them thinking that Santa is giving them the trip for Christmas (that’s a huge gift and every Christmas after would pale in comparison). So I’m looking for wording help to tell the kids Santa helped us give them this trip and also have him say actual Christmas will be smaller. Thanks!!

Personally, I don't think I'd explain that Christmas will be smaller in the letter. Kids are so happy on Christmas morning, even kids who don't believe in Santa anymore. Especially for the 6 year old, I'd probably just buy less expensive items so that there is still the fun of unwrapping. If they say something about the amount of presents, I think that answering their question with "Mom, Dad, and Santa put a lot of their effort into the trip this year" would suffice. But, I don't even know that they would say anything. (Of course, you know your kids, so YMMV!)

As far as the letter goes, I feel like something along the lines of "I helped Mom and Dad put together this trip for you" would work. Maybe even make up a North Pole Travel Agency that you worked with? I mean, Santa is so good at getting around the world in one night, I'm sure that planning a trip to Disney would be a piece of cake!

Also - we did a surprise trip to Universal several years ago, and I bought personalized Hogwarts letters for them on Etsy. I bet you could find a calligrapher on there who could make an incredible letter for you, or you could do cool-looking tickets. I just searched "Santa Letter Disney Trip" on there and things came up.
