Santa Kicked Out Of Disney World?

As to the question of how he's supposed to disappoint the children, it's surprising that he doesn't have a stock answer on hand already. Perhaps "no, I'm not Santa, but a lot of people tell me that I look like him." Or maybe, "No, I'm not Santa, but it's very nice of you to say that I look like him." There are many possible answers that Mr. Worley could give that would not devastate children, and perhaps he should be prepared with some the next time that he is in a location with another "official" Santa.

Exactly!

There is difference between happening to be on the heavy side and having a white beard and walking around all in red and telling kids you are Santa. As I said before, it's a matter of degree, and this guy went too far. I think it does come down to a case by case basis, but this one still strikes me as an easy call.

BTW, I also agree with the Jack Sparrow analogy. To Mr Worley's defenders--what other characters should guests be allowed to dress up as?

No, but it shows that you can't trust someone just because he is in a Santa suit, which many of you seem willing to do. Disney had no idea who this guy was, what his background was. How were they supposed to know if he was a pervert or not? If I see someone in a Disney park in costume I trust that they are a CM, and have been trained on how to inter-act with guests. This Santa wanna be was not! As my daddy would say, you don't know him from a hole in the ground!

maybe i didn't make myself clear but that is what i meant also( not sure if the "no" applied to me or someone else)

didn't read the sc incident but i doubt anyone "let" their child get on a motorcycle with a stranger, they must have assumed he was ok if he had been in the area for a while or the parents weren't there...what child is not going to trust "santa" which is i'm sure why the guy who abducted the little girl dressed like that...sad but true. i remember a news piece where a child molester mentioned that he did whatever he thought could help gain the child's trust so he could abduct them with out a scene.... so it's not a stretch to think someone would dress up like a santa to do that...and not saying that was the wdw man's intent but how could anyone know that? even if he had a bunch of kids around him, if that had been his intent it wouldn't have stopped him from getting a child off by himself

I think this thread has been beaten to death. Clearly half of the people strongly feel as though he should have stayed, and half strongly feel as though he shouldn't have and I don't think all the further discussion in the world is going to change anyone's mind.

Adults are not allowed to wear costumes to the parks (except for MNSSHP and SWW). And even then they are told they can not sign autographs. That is why no adult costumes are sold on property. Kids are more then welcome to wear costumes to the parks.

Sorry, I'm still deeply puzzled? :confused3 :confused3 :confused3

In what way have I advocated "trusting" this man?

I thought the terms of this discussion were quite different, with the issue not relating even distantly to trust, but instead being centered around the "consequences" of resembling (and perhaps even identifying as) Santa.

Frankly, I would trust very few at WDW no matter what their dress or demeaner. Trust is earned. But neither would I penalize someone, as long as they are decent, for appearance.

Once again...I with you Viki!

I also agree with you trypnotic...this thread has been beaten to death!

OK...I will give you the fact that is is Disney property and they are allowed to have anyone they wish to be sent out for what ever reasons. We are just saying the reason behind it are crossing the line. And I am sorry but he was not "impersonating a charater"! He had a hat on and a T-shirt themed for the holidays. Yes it was said that the t-shirt said he was the real santa...Get over it already....like I said in other post I have a Christmas shirt that says Elf in training...that doesn't make it so! He said a few Ho Ho Ho's...once again get over it. The fact that he looked like the true Santa and made a few kids happy...it no reason to ask the man to leave or "kick him out".
And the child molester thing...OMG, this was a dumb remark made at the beginning that I would hope no one took seriously.
If the man was doing something wrong then YES kick him out...but he wasn't denied entry for the way he looked, he wasn't asked to leave at any other time and many posted have stated they believe this is the same man they have seen @ WDW many times before...This is just a situation that was blown way out of proportion.
Oh, and I didn't know that Santa wannabe's went ot six flags...how cool! I sure the scrooges will find their way their too tho!

I agree with this :thumbsup2 . I thought the ho ho ho was kind of funny. Luckily my kids are afraid of Santa but not the Disney characters.

I think disney was right to kick him out after he did the ho ho ho thing. It was obvious he was trying to get attention!

He was telling everyone he was Santa. Disney would be responsible if something were to happen. You never know what could happen. Maybe he was harmless maybe he wasn't. Would you want disney to take that risk? That is a big risk they are taking if they let him stay in the park.

Can we just go ahead and let this never ending thread die a peaceful and graceful death?

I think it's obvious he crossed a line since many of us here have seen similarly dressed men at Disney (I may even have seen this one last month -- we certainly remarked to each other about a guy who looked just like S.C. in Cosmic Ray's!) -- presumably THEY weren't thrown out, nor was this guy, until now.

So probably something was different about this time -- he took his Ho-Ho-Hoing a bit further, or he just happened to draw a larger crowd at the wrong place and time.

But given the personal experience many of us here have had seeing guys who bear a striking resemblence to Santa in the parks, they don't kick out everybody with a round belly and a white beard!

This guy was there the same time as me a few years ago and he really does look like Santa! He was very kind and polite to everyone who talked to him or even smiled at him. While I was watching him he never seemed to cross any lines, just seems like a very friendly guy who looks like Santa.

Hey, if they didn't kick Ron Jeremy out of the parks, it's not looks they're going on! Those pesky business cards did it.
