Anyone have any particular food/restaurant recommendations for Santa Cruz? Particularly, is there anywhere to get good clam chowder? Boardwalk? Wharf? Somewhere less touristy? Any other good food suggestions?

Since you mentioned clam chowder, I assume you like clams. When we were in Capitola, my brother-in-law had to stop at Pizza My Heart for clam pizza. He said it was great. The line for pizza by the slice was pretty long, which I took to be a good thing. They have a location in Santa Cruz. Have a great trip!

Thanks for the suggestion. I just checked out the menu and address. My boys love pizza, so this is likely to be a hit. Anyone have any other good Santa Cruz food recommendations?

Second the Pizza My Heart suggestion - the pizza is yummy, the slices are huge, the prices are convenient (sales tax is already included!), and the $6 slice & shirt combo can't be beat.

Bump. Anyone else have any good food recommendations for Santa Cruz? We're definitely going to check out the pizza place mentioned by PPs.

I was going to say Pizza My Heart as well, it is the BEST pizza, we almost always eat there when we go to SC. And we like to go to SC. :)

Personally, I never go to Santa Cruz without stopping at 2 particular food places. Saturn Cafe, which is a vegetarian restaurant. I'm not vegetarian, myself, but they have an FLT (fakin' bacon, lettuce and tomato) that's fantastic. I also make sure to have the soup, as it's always good, regardless of flavor. The second stop is Marianne's Ice Cream. You won't find better ice cream anywhere. Try the Alice B Toklas Fudge Brownie flavor. The best!

There's a crepe place that I quite enjoyed for a late breakfast one time, but I can't recall the name of it.

Can't help with clam chowder as I despise seafood.

And I'm completely jealous that you're going to Santa Cruz! Been trying to figure out how to afford a trip up there this summer. It's my favorite place in the world.

Thanks for the suggestions. We tried Marianne's last year and loved it. I didn't have that particular flavor you suggested though, so I'm definitely going to check that out this year.
