Santa Claus, Indiana has a special program for handstamping a picture postmark to cancel the postage stamps on holiday mail beginning Dec 1.
Guidelines -
1) allow at least a 2" x 4" space in the stamp area for the postmark
2) have cards already stamped before mailing them - mail in a sturdy box or envelope to: Postmaster, Santa Claus Station, Santa Claus, IN 47579-9998.
Usually a half million pieces of mail come to this PO which has a normal average of 13,000/MONTH!!! Incredible!!!
The Southern Indiana Post Office is the only Santa Claus Post Office in the nation!
They will also do "Santa Letters" - legions of volunteers will answer mail from children - the Santa's Elves are non-profit but please put a stamp on your return LEGIBLE self addressed envelope. A donation would be much appreciated, but is not necessary or required. (my opinion, just good manners!!!!)
Children wishing to write to Santa can do so at -
Santa Claus
P.O. Box 799

Have a wonderul holiday but remember even though Santa is fun, Jesus is the reason for the season.
God bless all,
Rae
