We Normally Fly To Orlando Intl But This Year We Are Going To Sanford Is It A Lot Easier Than Intl When You Arrive,as I Finf Intl Rather Long Winded, also Any Tips Or Things We Should Or Should Not Do At Sanford

IMO Sanford airport is much easier than MCO.

There is no pick up your luggage twice... :)
You get off the plane, go through immigration, pick your luggage up and then out to get your car.
We were on our way within half a hour of landing, which is pretty quick.

I went through Sanford two weeks ago. From getting off the plane to driving away from Dollar car rentals was 23 minutes. So easy !!

As you see the previous two posters flew through’ the only hold up you might get is at immigrations, if there’s few planes come in about the same time it can get a bit busy, but still really easy…good luck.

I have read on other threads that it is best for 1 person to go ahead and collect your car while the others wait for the cases. Do you get your cases before you go through immigrations and if so do you not need to all go through as a family.

thanks all for your replys sounds like its going to be a breeze, cant wait only a month to go :umbrella: :hourglass

From recollection, you go through immigration first and then head into the baggage area which is close to the main road exit where all the agents/car hire places are.

I found that last time there were several flights in at the one time so it took a bit of time to get away - this was mostly due to waiting for the luggage more than anything!

Hello,

Never been to orlando Int'l but Sanford is a very east airport to get around due to small size.

One thing I didnt like was even though there is only one backage claim you do have to have all luggage re-scanned on your way out of thwe door! This wasnt obvious and I was very shocked/scared when a big burly american guy blocked my way out of the front door!

if you can, book the guest house for your return journey.
Departures at sanford can be crowded and their isn't much to keep you occupied if you have a long wait.
Food and drink is free (except alcohol) and they have playstations to keep the kids busy.Think it costs about £10.

whats the guest house, please explain. What do you get and how do you book!!!!

According to my guide book, it is a lounge in a separate area to the main departure lounge. There is a cafe where you can take advantage of unlimited tea, coffee, soft drinks and snacks + plus 2 drinks of beer or wine for the over 21s. You can have lunch there, which I presume you pay for. There is a home cinema set up, reading lounge, internet access, PS2s. The little ones have a separate play room.

Some tour operators offer it as a prebookable option but you can book it on arrival at Sanford according to my book. You are supposed to be able to see the guest house at www.OrlandoSanfordAirport.com

I will have a look at that site too, hope that helps. :)

Does anyone know if you can pre-book from here without going through a TA, or is my only other option to wait until we arrive and then book for our return journey?

I would like to know if you can book direct also, and I could not find the prices either. Is it the same for adults and children

We use the guest house at Sanford just for a bit of peace before the flight.
We have never pre booked but just turn up on the day and pay as you walk in.

Can you remember the cost for adults and is it the same for children.

According to the Brit's Guide to Orlando 2005 it costs $20 for adults and $15 for children. I think originally the guest house was built for clients of Airtours but this is going back a bit. Sounds like it is now open to any one. I wonder if they limit the amount of people they let in.
