I was scratching my head wondering which way i should go when the solution became obvious - ask the friends on the Disboards as someone is bound to have the answer.:thumbsup2

It is some time since I flew into Sanford and have always taken the Greeneway (?) 417 to get to the Disney area. It is of course easy - but I was wondering is there any point in cutting across to the I4? Are there any advantages - quicker/more interesting? Having used the 417 a number of times it has become one of those roads like a commuter route that you can use every day without noticing anything and I kind of fancy an alternative.

In recent years, landing at MCO we have used the I4 link and find it seems quicker somehow. Looking at the map, the distance and journey time from Sanford though isn't quite so clear one way or the other although it is obviously more straightforward to head straight down the 417.

What do you think?:confused3

I would take the 417 & get off at the Celebration exit. After a long flight a simple route is good to have :)

The 417 is a dream to drive on. I usually take the 417 to the Osceola Parkway then head to the AK and down the Sherberth to the 192 and across to FG Boulevard

Yes, that's the way I normally go and probably will again. There are obviously no recommendations for I4. Thanks folks.:)

Another vote for the 417 to Osceola Parkway, then we would take a left just before the Gaylord Palms (South I-Drive), a right on 192 brings you onto about mile marker 10 and then straight on to Formosa just past mile marker 5! :thumbsup2

The I4 can be really congested depending on what time you land into Sanford!

Seeing the banners across the road on the park way is one reason why we go that way

The 417 is the more relaxing route, but if you want a more interesting route like me, I always take the I4. I always join it at junction 98, along Lake Mary Boulevard. The reason I like this route, is that it takes you through Downtown Orlando where you can see a lot of the city centre sites. And the farther down you travel, you get to see all the Theme park Billboards at the side of the road which builds the excitement. The traffic can be very busy at times, which is the only downside. I do use the 417 when returning to Sanford airport as I would hate to be stuck in the occasional traffic jam, which can happen at rush hour or after the odd accident. If the traffic flows, I always think it takes about the same time on both routes.

Thanks Fozzie. It would be a nice change to use your route certainly and I will consider the option. Our flight gets in at around 3.30 so the chances are that we could well get stuck in traffic on the I4 which, after the flight, doesn't appeal very much so I think I probably still favour the 417. It could be I don't make a decision until I pick up the car. ;)

Cochise - the banners are a must with us too :goodvibes but you still see them if you leave the I4 for Osceola Parkway.

We will have DD with us who spent 14 months as a cast member and she is having serious withdrawal symptoms so bypassing the Parkway banners to get to Irlo Bronson is NOT an option.

Hi Lisa. Reading your post made me wonder if you have have ever continued along the Osceola Parkway and taken a left at the traffic lights just before AKL onto Sherberth Road. I (and most others) have found this to be quicker than the route you describe - AND you get your first dusting of pixie dust from the banners on Osceola. :tinker:

Yep, Im pretty sure we have also done this route.....

You know what, from all of the times I have been, I am still not sure I would find my way from the airport......my hubby has been around 30 times and he knows the roads like the back of his hand, he takes different routes every single time and then I wonder, even after all of the times I have been, how I do not know my way around 100%! :rotfl: Im sure he only does it so that I wont go without him  Haha!
